It was the day they were to head to Japan. At three in the morning, Y/n was already awake, her mind racing with unresolved thoughts and emotions. She had barely slept, the weight of her worries keeping her eyes wide open. She still hadn't fixed things with Michael and couldn't bring herself to face him. She had only seen Ness, who had given her updates on how Michael was doing. According to Ness, Michael's mood had been down, and he wasn't really talking.

"He misses you," Ness had said softly the last time they talked. "And he won't talk to me, but I can tell. He's not himself."

"I know," Y/n had whispered, her voice cracking. "I just... I can't right now."

Besides that, something else weighed heavily on her mind. Her "family". As much as she dreaded it, she wanted to see them before leaving for Japan, since she didn't know when she would be back. Something inside her considered asking Noa to take her before they left but decided otherwise. Instead, Y/n left a note on her door saying she 'went out for a walk and not to worry because she would be back'. The flight was at seven anyway.

She passed through the hallways, the eerie silence amplifying her anxiety. The facility was usually bustling with energy, but at this hour, it was a ghost town. She made it to the front door, noticing the absence of the front desk lady. The emptiness of the early morning weighed on her as she stepped outside into the crisp, predawn air.

As the girl walked down the streetlight-lit streets, she found herself lost in memories. The quiet streets, usually so full of life, now seemed like a different world. She remembered small memories of her and Vespera, the mischief her sister dragged her into, the pranks Vespera would pull on other kids. The untamed wailing echoed in her mind, a bittersweet reminder of simpler times.

She passed a familiar convenience store, the place where she first saw Michael. The memory of that day hit her like a wave. Feeling a certain type of way, she entered the store and walked around, reliving the scene. Through the freezer doors, she could see a vision of Michael, all innocent, pressing his hands on the glass with tears in his eyes.

"Why do you hate me now, Y/n?" his image questioned her. "Are you going to leave me like how Mama did?" Y/n vision became blurry as she felt the tears appear. What is this?

"Am I a pain to you, just like with Papa?"

A tear slipped out as she hurriedly bought a candy bar and left the store, heading to her old house. She finally arrived at the gate, sighing heavily before pushing it open. The creak of the gate was loud in the stillness of the morning. She walked to the front door, her heart pounding, and hesitated before knocking three times, hoping someone would hear.
