The cool outside air hit Michael's face as he narrowed his eyes, his gaze fixed on the delicate diamond rose necklace around his neck. He could feel the anxiety radiating off of Y/n and he wanted nothing more but to soothe her. Still, they needed to find a way out.

He leaned closer to her, whispering in a low urgent tone, "Take it, Y/n."

Y/n looked at him, confusion evident in her wide eyes. "What? Why?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly as she instinctively touched the necklace.

Michael's blue eyes darkened as he glanced toward the building. "Take the necklace and run," he instructed, his voice firm. "Give the illusion that we're both running away . You have to go, now."

Y/n's heart raced as she stared at him, her mind struggling to process his words. "No," she shook her head, tears already welling up in her eyes. It hurt him to look. He knew she wouldn't just leave.

"I'm not leaving without you, Micha. I can't." Her voice broke, and she took a step closer to him, her hand reaching out to touch his arm.

"If something happens to you, what will I do?"

Michael's face softened for this moment, his serious exterior cracking just enough to reveal the anguish he trying to hide.

"Y/n, I need you to do this for me. I don't know what else to do," he insisted, his voice growing desperate. Hildegard may come out here anytime soon and he didn't want to risk Y/n's safety.

"You need to run into the forest. The same way the others ran when they escaped out the window. Follow that path, and don't stop."

"See if you can find a safe way out of here."

Y/n's lip quivered as more tears began to roll down her cheeks. "But...but what about you? I can't just leave you here. You know she will.., " her voice trailed off, choked by sobs.

Michael clenched his fists, pain flashing across his features as he stared into her tear-filled eyes. He reached for her despite being restrained and gently cupped her face, wiping away a tear with his thumb.

"Listen to me," he murmured softly, his voice cracking. "If you stay here, we're screwed. If you run and try to find a pathway out of here, you give us a chance."

Y/n bit her lip, her heart shattering as she nodded reluctantly. She slowly took the necklace from around his neck and stared at it for a long moment, knowing the danger it held. Her legs felt heavy as if they were refusing to move, but Michael gave her a gentle push on her shaking legs.
