For someone who prided himself on being unreadable, there was an unmistakable tightness in his jaw.

It took Y/n a moment to find the words. The past few days had been a whirlwind of fear, uncertainty, and endless silence. Sae was here now, another tether to the outside world however fragile it might be. She leaned forward, clasping her hands together as if to ground herself.

"Rin is missing," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

Sae's expression didn't immediately change, but his fingers stilled on the edge of the table. "You're not serious." he said, his tone calm but clipped.

The words she was about to say felt like stones in her throat, heavy and unyielding. "Rin escaped from his cell."

Sae's expression didn't immediately change, but there was a subtle shift in his posture. His shoulders tensed and his fingers froze mid tap against the edge of the table.

"What do you mean, 'escaped'?" he asked, his tone cold, though his eyes betrayed a flicker of unease.

Y/n swallowed hard. "He left a card behind , saying he's going to find evidence to clear our names. I think he loosed the bolts in the vent of his cell to get out. It must have been painful, but it seems he managed to squeeze through."

Sae leaned back slightly, his lips pressing into a thin line. His gaze drifted briefly to the corner of the room as if trying to picture his brother crawling through cramped jagged vents. When he spoke, his voice was sharper laced with disapproval. "Idiot."

Y/n bristled, the word cutting deeper than it should have. "He's not an idiot," she snapped, her voice rising with frustration. "He's trying to help us. Who wants to just sit here, waiting for a trial that's already stacked against us. What's wrong with trying?"

"Do you hear yourself?" Sae shot back, leaning forward. His sharp eyes locked onto hers, voice lowering but losing none of its intensity. "He's out there, completely exposed with no plan no backup and no idea what kind of people he's going up against. You think that's bravery? It's reckless, and it's dangerous. Rin's already stubborn, but this...this is just careless."

Y/n's fists clenched, her nails digging into her palms. "I know that. Trust me when I say I'm terrified for him every second ! But what choice did he have, Sae? What choice do any of us have?"

Sae exhaled through his nose, his expression hardening, though the slight crack in his voice betrayed the turmoil beneath. "Do you realize what could happen to him?" he asked, his tone quieter now. "Rin's not invincible. He's not a child anymore, but he's still... He shouldn't be out there, not alone."
