Percy POV

Loki and I locked ourselves in my room for an hour, trying to fix Atë's curse.

"Did you try healing with water?" I nodded. "Did we try healing with fire, using Phlegethon's blessing?" At my affirmative nod, Loki growled in irritation.

I slumped my shoulders, thinking. An idea popped into my brain and I sat up abruptly, trying to convey through my movements that I might have a solution.

It took Loki a few moments to notice my attempts to get his attention. "What?"

I held up one finger and scrunched up my face in concentration.

Apollo! I yelled mentally. I need your help!

After a few moments, a golden flash illuminated the room.

"Wassup cousin?" Apollo flashed his trademark megawatt smile at me.

"He can't speak." Loki said bluntly.

"What?" Instantly the God of Healing was all business. "How long has this been going for?"

I quickly counted the minutes and held up my hands, fingers splayed, then made an X with my arms and held up six fingers.

"Ten times six? Oh, an hour! Did you try the different healing methods you have?"

I nodded exasperatedly, giving him a 'Duh!' look.

Apollo frowned and moved forward to place his hand lightly on my throat.

"It's a curse. Who was it this time?"

I frowned, trying to figure out how to explain.

Holding up my hand, I made a biting motion.

"Eating?" Apollo guessed.

I shook my head and held up three fingers, then made the biting motion again and pointed behind me.

"What?" Apollo frowned, confused. Loki's eyes shot wide then scrunched closed. He seemed to be focusing on something.

I was on my fifth repeat of my little charade when the god of Mischief's eye's popped open.

"Atë." He said.

I grinned and nodded.

Apollo looked stricken. "Atë? As in daughter of Zeus and Eris, Atë? Uh, that's not good."

I frowned. Loki, sensing my unasked question, turned to the sun god.

"Why isn't that good? And who is Eris?"

"Eris is the goddess of strife and discord. She's the sister of Enyo, a minor war goddess and is sometimes called the personification of chaos."

I groaned and focused on the water in the bathroom. It swirled out the door and curled into words in front of me.

"'Isn't she a dua-ter of Zeus? And Ate is his dua-ther two?' Perce, you need to work on your spelling." Apollo commented.

"It says 'Isn't she a daughter of Zeus? And Atë is his daughter too?' Percy, Atë has a umlaut over the 'E.'" Loki said.

I glared at him. The water shifted.

"I figured you didn't know what that meant." He grinned at my shaking-from-frustration, misspelled words.

"There has to be some way to get him to talk." Apollo was frowning.

A voice whispered in my brain. 'I have a way, but you must not use it often young hero.'

I flinched. Who are you?!

A helpful watcher.

What can I do?

Poseidon's adoption of you helped more than you know. His children have amazing voices. Singing voices, Perseus.

Are you saying that his adoption gave me this?

The voice chuckled. Yes. It cannot be taken from you. But beware, if you use it often it will become like a siren's song. The only difference is that you will not be able to break the trance.

I took a deep breath, then stopped. Can I convey thoughts?

Possibly. I do not know.

I nodded and began to hum quietly. To my excitement, the tune came out audibly.

Loki and Apollo froze and turned to listen. I could see how it would transform to the siren song. Quickly, I projected my thoughts on the matter, asking for what would help and explaining the humming.

Apollo stared at me when I stopped. "That's amazing!"

"But he can't use it often, it could brainwash the listener." Loki retorted.

"That's why he asked for knowledge of sign language, duh." I was the receiver of a megawatt grin.

"Well then do it. I can translate for him."

Apollo laid a hand on my head and I felt a short surge of energy as he transferred what I asked for.

"Don't worry, cuz, I'll get Athena and Hecate to find a way to fix this. Hang tight." I closed my eyes as he flashed out, not bothering to try and tell the great idiot that I wasn't really his cousin. He wouldn't care.

"This should be interesting." Loki said.

I nodded in response.

[A/N I love that headcanon. I figured adoption by Poseidon would do that, at least. The powers aren't from him though. Hope you enjoyed!]
