"Honey, its going to be ok." Valkyrie soothed as she fixed up Skulduggery's tie "Valkyrie...I killed him...why aren't you running with Emma? You deserve better than me." his voice cracked and Valkyrie looked into his dark eye sockets "Skulduggery, you are an incredible man, you were always the man I loved and the only man I am every going to love." she kissed his teeth gently before picking up Emma out oh her crib. They were all dressed for Erskine's funeral and they were all dressed in black, even Emma was wearing a black dress. Skulduggery had been grieving over Erskine for the week since he had been gone and Valkyrie knew it would take a long time before he gets over it "Come on, lets get this over with." Valkyrie whispered and lead his outside where everyone was waiting for the service to start. Skulduggery had said that the funeral should be held at Gordons so everyone Erskine ever knew was seated around. Even a few ladies that no one recognised that were pregnant...no doubt Erskine's doing. Skulduggery and Valkyrie sat down waiting for it to start and he took Emma into his skeletal arms and cradled her close to him "Ladies and gentlemen, we are here to celebrate the life of Erskine Ravel, Dead man, friend Grand mage-" Skulduggery didn't listen to what Ghastly had to say about Erskine...he wasn't think of anything in particular, he was just...sitting. He didn't really know what to think...he had just killed one of his best friends, sure enough it want actually him but he had been irresponsible enough to forget it was a full moon and not only put Erskine in danger but Emma and Valkyrie too. He didn't know what he would do If he ever lost them. Skulduggery looked down at Emma who was smiling up at him with her piercing eyes set on his hollow sockets, she giggled as he cooed her "Skulduggery Pleasant." Ghastly finished and everyone looked at him waiting for him to say his speech so he carefully passed Emma over to

Valkyrie as he stood up and made his way to the podium "Erskine Ravel was a very good man, a everyone here would agree. He was also a very respected person by many people. No body knew Erskine like the Dead Men...he was a brother to us and he will always be considered one-" but he was cut of by a slow clap at the back of the audience so Skulduggery looked up and saw Charlie stood there with a smirk upon that evil looking face "Hello Christopher! Good to see you again!"

"Charlie." he snarled and Ghastly stood up "Why are you here?" he growled with a voice which came from deep within his chest "Ah! Baelfire! How very nice to see you again, but I'm not here to pay my respects! I'm here for someone, but as soon as I get her ill be on my way!" Everyone was looking at him now and Skulduggery took a few menacing steps towards his brother but Charlie didn't flinch even a bit "You will not be taking anybody! Now leave!" Skulduggery yelled but as he went to throw a ball of fire at him...he was gone "What a lovely little girl you have." he cried and everybody looked up to the building where he was holding Emma "LET HER GO!" Skulduggery screamed and flew up to the house "No I don't think I will!" and with that Charlie disappeared with Emma "WHERE IS HE GONE!" Ghastly yelled up but Skulduggery was frozen to the spot, eyes locked on the space where he was stood.

He was gone

And so was Emma...
