"We got it!!" I cheered bursting into the room like a crazy person.

"Got what?" Brenton laughed.

"Evidence it wasn't you!" His eyes widened as I slammed a folder on the desk.

"Seriously?!?"

"Yep!" I said popping the p as I sat down across from him. "Have you ever seen this guy before?" I opened the folder to reveal a picture of a 31 year old Russian.

"Ummm...... He kind of looks familiar." He hesitated.

"Well, turns out his finger prints are all over the gun! And if you look in his history, he bought that gun back in 1993!"

"Wait so that means....."

"That means we can reopen your trial!" I said slowly. His eyes widened. Suddenly he stood up, picked me up and spun us in a circle.

I couldn't help but laugh as he set me down. "Thank you." He said softly.

"Thank me when I get you out of here."

*******six months later*******

"The court finds Mr. Brenton Thwaites as......" I could feel Brenton shaking beside me.

"Not guilty. You are free to go." I sat there shocked.

We won. We actually won!

"Katie." I jumped as Brenton touched my arm. "We won." He said slowly.

"I know." I smiled. We walked out of the courthouse in silence. When we got outside, we stopped.

"Thank you, Katie. For everything. Without you," he chuckled. "Without you j would be in prison for something I didn't do." I couldn't help but laugh.

"Well, that's why I was hired." I smiled. What he did next shocked me. I gasped as he pulled me in for a hug.

"I'm sorry. I know I didn't make it easy on you at first. Thank you for sticking by me." He pulled away with a smile on his face.

"Of course." I didn't know what else to say.

"Well, since you freed me I at least owe you a free lunch." He chuckled.

"Oh um thank you but...." I stuttered.

"Come on. It's the least I could do." I just couldn't say no to that smile.

"Sure." He linked my arm as we started walking down the street.

"This is a start of a beautiful friendship!" He playfully sang.

"Yeah," I laughed. "I proved you didn't rob a confident store."

"Better than trying to prove it when I did it."
