You were watching from the table closest to the dance floor at your outdoor wedding reception, as Shawn, your new husband, shared a dance with your four year old daughter Abby.

"Spin me around again," Abby giggles loudly, the entire crowd turning to look at the two of them. Shawn looked happier than ever as he lifted her up and set her back down, the smile on her face spreading to his.

She was all dressed up in her white lace flower girl dress and her hair was in an adorable little bun, and Shawn was wearing a black tuxedo with a red tie, the color theme of your ceremony. He held her tiny hands tightly in his as they danced around together, unaware that almost every eye in the yard was staring at them.

"They look like they're having so much fun," One of your aunts said to you from behind. "If I didn't know better, I would think it's his daughter, too."

That made you smile.

But what made you smile even bigger were the next words that came out of Abby's mouth, audible from the whole crowd, making everyone coo.

"I love you, Daddy!"

You made your way over to them quickly, Shawn's eyes growing larger as soon as they caught yours. You didn't realize they were welling up with tears until you blinked, tears rolling down your cheeks in a brief flow.

"What's wrong, princess?" He asks, concerned.

"No no," You smile assuringly, feeling his hands on the small of your back. "They're happy tears."

Shawn has been in your life ever since you were pregnant with Abby, devastated over your ex-boyfriend taking off on you the moment he found out about the baby.

Shawn was there through every tear, always driving you to doctor's appointments and bringing you food when you needed it. He was there when she was born, and has always acted like a father to her.

Strangely, that was the first time she ever called him Dad. You knew that was your fault, always getting technical over that word. But now, it felt perfectly appropriate, knowing that you would be with Shawn for the rest of your life.

"This is amazing," Shawn whispers softly into your ear as Abby runs off to play with some of the other kids her age.

"What is?" You ask through your smile.

He softly kisses your temple, his steady hands still on your hips. "This, Y/N."
