Henry remained in the same spot as before. He had only gotten up to use the bathroom and grab Rose's book and put it on her nightstand, just in case she woke up, she would have something to do. Henry had left the window open, allowing the fresh air to come in.

Rose hadn't woken up in a long time. Henry knew it would take time, but he was beginning to worry.

He listened to her heartbeat; it soothed him to know that she was still alive, barely. He sat on the ground with his head buried in his knees, still thinking about what he had done and how he had hurt her. Tears stained his eyes and cheeks, and dark circles were visible under his eyes from stress and lack of rest.

All of a sudden, Rose's heartbeat increased rapidly. He quickly looked up to see Rose awake, staring at him – fear plastered all over her face.

Henry slowly stood up, trying his best not to scare her.

"Is . . . is there anything that you need?" His voice came out cracked. Rose didn't answer. She continued to look at him as if he was about to attack her again. "Rose, please. Is there anything that you need?" he asked again in the same tone.

"W-water, Master." Her voice was hoarse and timid. As she spoke, she shrunk into the covers, as if to get away from him.

He furrowed his eyebrows. He found it a little weird that she was calling him Master again. Quickly, he ran down to the kitchen, grabbed a cup, and filled it with water. He carefully walked upstairs, back to Rose's room.

He walked in her room. "Can you move?"

"N-no, Master," she said, afraid that he would not give her the water, or would come near her.

He walked toward her and put his arm under her head. She tensed as he touched her. He lifted up her head and brought the glass of water to her lips.

Once she had finished half the glass, Henry placed it on the nightstand and backed away.

"Thank y-you, Master," she said in a small, timid voice.

"Please don't call me, Master. I'm not your Master. I nearly killed you."

Rose stared at him in confusion. Why is he upset that he almost killed me? Rose thought as her eyebrows furrowed.

"I'm upset because that wasn't me. That was a different side of me – a monster. I almost killed you, and I care for you a lot. I never wanted to hurt you." His eyes seemed to tear up. Rose just stared at him with a loss of words, but also looked at him with a hint of uncertainty and fear. "I'll leave you alone. Call if you need me." With that, Henry left her room.

Henry walked into his bathroom and looked at himself in the mirror. He leaned closer and looked at his red eyes while he bared his fangs – all he saw was a monster.

Before he could stop himself, his fist collided with the mirror. It immediately shattered on impact. He kept his hand on the broken mirror for a while, breathing heavily. Slowly, he retracted his hand. Small shards of glass embedded in his knuckles.

Taking his free hand, he brushed away the pieces before he shook his hand in pain. When he stopped, the wounds had healed, and only spots of blood were left. He sighed deeply and walked to his bed. Laying down, he closed his eyes, and unwillingly began to rest.

His exhausted eyes fluttered open, and he looked at his watch in a faint panic. He hadn't meant to rest for long! He had rested for most of the night, and though he needed it, the thought that Rose might need something quickly drew him out of bed.

Rose was still where he had left her, her own exhaustion showing on her face.

"Do you need more water?"

She nodded her head. He grabbed the glass of water, lifted her head up, and let her drink. He laid the glass down on the nightstand again.

"Can you feel anything?" He needed to know how well she was healing, if she even was.

"I c-can feel my toes and fingertips, Master."

Henry nodded his head. "If it's ok with you, can I stay in here? I just want to make sure that I'm here if you need anything. And don't agree because you think it's the right answer. I want honesty . . . you won't be punished for anything you say or do." He hated he had to add that last part.

Rose was silent for a few seconds. Her heartbeat increased as she thought about her two options. Even though he had attacked her, he showed her kindness, and she hadn't felt that in years. Her old Master wouldn't even attempt to care for her.

"Y-yes, Master."

"Henry, please," he said in such a kind tone that Rose didn't feel scared that she had forgotten his previous request. He decided to give her some space, sitting down on the ground with his back against the nightstand.

"You want me to read to you?" Henry asked as he glanced at her. Rose nodded her head. He raised his hand and grabbed the book off the nightstand. He opened it where the bookmark was and began to read.

Glancing up, Henry saw that Rose had fallen asleep. Faintly smiling, he closed the book and leaned his head back.

"I can feel both of my arms and legs," Rose murmured, her eyes still closed.

Henry's eyes shot open, and he looked up at her. "That's great," there was a short pause. "I'm sorry, I never wanted you to get hurt."

"I . . ." her eyes opened. "I forgive you."

"Please don't forgive me just because you think I'm your Master."

Rose breathed in deeply. "I-I'm not. I forgive you because I believe you when you say that it wasn't you," she said. The fact that he was apologizing was something Rose never even thought possible from a vampire.

Henry licked his lips nervously before he asked the question: "What did I do to you?" He looked down. He couldn't bring himself to look her in the face.

"You hit m-me, slammed me against the counter, a-and then drank my blood." The word 'Master' began to form on her lips, but for some unknown reason, she didn't say it.

Henry ran his hand through his hair before he breathed out a shaking breath.

"I'm sorry," Henry whimpered out. "I'm so sorry."

"Why is there blood on your hand?" she asked. She didn't know why, but seeing Henry in pain was painful for her too.

"I punched a mirror, and a shard got stuck in my knuckle," he said as he stared at his hand too.

Why would he do that?

"I looked at myself and saw a monster."

It only took Rose a second to get over the fact that he had read her mind. "You're not a monster," Rose said softly.

"Thank you," Henry whispered.

They both continued to talk about different things until Rose fell asleep.

Thank you as always as reading. Hope you liked it.
