Chapter 18.
N A T H E N
I couldn't help but pace around my room for a bit after Trevor called me. I knew for a fact that my hair was definitely all over the place from running my fingers through it in frustration. I probably look like some insane mental patient, but I can't help it. I literally can't.
What's happening? Ever since that stupid party, things have been getting so fucked up. I feel like the world is literally trying to fuck up my mind, and mess with my head. I stopped pacing, and clenched my hands into fists as I glanced at my phone which was chilling on the bed, sighing. My lockscreen was a picture of the team after the pep rally -- all of us standing together in our uniforms laughing and being completely retarded as Coach took the picture. I had Trevor up on my back while he flipped off at the camera, and I couldn't help but laugh a bit at the look on his face.
I have to fix things before they get worse. Whatever is going on between Trevor and I needs to stop. To be honest -- the scary part, is that I honestly don't even know if I want it to stop. I just want to stop being so confused with everything. So, grabbing my phone, I quickly fixed my hair (it was a lion's mane, okay?) and made my way down the stairs before throwing on my Nikes and heading out the door.
"Shit," I hissed, realizing I forgot my keys. Groaning, I turned back around and went back inside to grab my keys off the shelf in the kitchen. Right when I was about to leave fore the last time, the house phone started ringing.
Raising an eyebrow, I picked up the phone without checking the Caller ID. "Hello?"
"Nathen?" It was Grandma. I sighed in relief a little bit, and smiled.
"Hey," I said softly, checking the clock. It was currently 5:30pm. "Are you alright, Grandma?"
"Yes, yes dear," she chuckled. "I was just calling to see if your parents were home. I made some apple pie."
My smile faded, and I pursed my lips. "Oh man, they're not home. I'll give them the message though, or I could...stop by later and pick it up? I'm actually on my way over to Trevor's right now, Grandma."
She laughed. I swear, that lady is in love with Trevor. She's got some old-lady crush on him, and I think it's adorable. Even Trevor milks it all the time, especially when my Grandma's always making him food.
"Bring him over later! That boy is such a sweetheart! I'll put away some pie for you two, okay? Besides, when was the last time you came to visit me, eh?"
I sighed. "I was actually going to stop by earlier today, but...some things came up--"
"Yeah, yeah, I don't care!" She snapped playfully, making me chuckle. "I'll be waiting! Oh, and the twins are here too."
"Okay, Grandma. I'll see you later," I muttered.
"Bye, baby."
When I hung up the phone, I bolted out the door with my keys before any more distractions occured. Yes, don't get me wrong, I love my grandmother with all my heart, seriously. I feel like I'm closer with her than I am with my own parents. Besides, I know the "problems" she's been having lately, and I always want to spend as much time with her as I can, but I couldn't help but feel anxious. I needed to get to Trevor's as soon as I can, I need to talk to him.
