Colten offers to drive Nathan to his house so that Jackson can drive us to his.

I walk behind brother Long towards his car, not exactly sure about this whole 'going home' thing. It's not a secret I'm attracted to him in a strange way, so I'm worried about what will happen.

When we both hop in the car, Jackson starts driving towards his house while I stay stiff in the passenger seat.

Nathan didn't get beaten up to bad. The worst that happened was a bloody nose, but Colten assured me it wasn't broken. Hopefully, Nathan will be smart enough to take Advil and rid himself of any pain.

Pulling up to the house where everything changed, I take a deep breath, before walking towards the door Jackson is trying to unlock.

The house is dark and slightly cold, but after Jackson raises the thermostat and turns on the lights, it starts to look more and more like the house I remember.

Awkwardly, I stand by the door and wait for Jackson to say something. I know I kind of initiated this whole thing, but I don't have a schedule planned.

"Why'd you stop me?" He speaks finally, a sense of irritation behind his words.

"What do you mean?" I question, leaning against the door.

"I mean," he flashes his beautiful eyes at me. Beautiful? "Why would you stop me from beating the day lights out of that low life?"

Harsh.

"Because..." I open my mouth, then close it again.

"Do you still love him or something?" He asks with furrowed eyebrows. Anger coming clear on his face.

"No!" I rush out. "I-I don't know, but it doesn't matter because no matter what he did it's not okay to beat up people."

He chuckles darkly. "Are you trying to lecture me, princess?"

"No, I'm just letting you know that you can't walk through life talking with your fists."

"Says the girl that can't seem to hold a boyfriend, or anyone for that matter," he sneers.

Ouch.

By the look on his face I can tell he didn't mean to say it, but he did. That's what matters. And he's right. Everyone that gets to close to me, I push away. Except for Nikki, she wouldn't go away no matter how hard I tried.

"Brit..." He runs a hand through his hair. "I don't know why I said that."

I nod, blinking away my tears that appear without my knowledge. This is just stupid. Why am I even here?

"Doesn't matter," I say. "I'm just gonna go to Jake's party and find a random guy to fuck since - you know - I can't keep a boyfriend anyway."

"Don't say that," he growls, eyes wild.

He just needs to stop.

"Why?" I taunt. "It would only make sense not to set myself up for failure and do this whole one night stand thing that you're so good at."

"Stop. Talking." He demands through gritted teeth, taking an intimidating step towards my position at the door.

"Cat got your tongue? Don't know way to say? That's to bad, I guess I'll be going," I jam my thumb towards the door, turning around and twisting the knob, swinging the door open. I don't get anywhere when the door is suddenly slammed shut, a hand pressed above my head on the surface.

"You want to go fuck some other guy? Go ahead," he leans towards my ear. "But no one can make you feel the way I can."

My breath hitches, sending my heart into overdrive. Maybe he's right.
