And just like that, he stopped breathing.

"HEY, Hel?" I called him.
He slowly turned his head to me, flashing me a warm smile.
I sat beside him, and together, we gazed at the calming sea.
"Can you live a longer life?" tanong ko sa kanya pero hindi siya umimik.
I'm still not ready to let my brother go. I just can't let him go like this. It's fucking unfair. He's too young to die.
"Can you stay here with us forever, Hel? Please? Magpalakas ka. Nandito kaming lahat para samahan kang lumaban. Hindi ka namin susukuan, Hel." My voice started to shake.
I'm not a fucking crybaby, but my brother's cancer drives me crazy! Ilang gabi na akong gumigising nang maga ang mata.
Napatingin ako sa kanya nang bigla niyang hawakan ang balikat ko.
"You've never asked anything from me, Dest. I'm actually glad you have something to ask from me now. And I'm sorry I couldn't give you what you want," aniya.
Namumutla na ang labi niya at ang buong mukha niya, pati ang katawan niya.
I couldn't stare at him for so long dahil nangingilid agad 'yong mga luha sa mata ko.
Nakapanghihinang makita ang kapatid ko na ganito.
Hindi ko matanggap na hanggang dito na lang talaga siya.
Hindi ko matanggap na hanggang dito na lang kaming dalawa.
"Can I ask you a favor instead?" bigla niyang sabi kaya muli kong ibinalik sa kanya ang tingin ko.
"Don't be afraid of expressing yourself, Dest. Say what you feel. Say what you think. Say everything you want to say. Life's too short to hold back the things that could make you happy."
I could no longer stop my tears from falling, and I just let myself cry in front of my brother.
My vision became blurry, but I could see him slowly closing his eyes, making me cry even more.
I could feel my shoulders shaking, and I couldn't stop my heart from breaking knowing that it's time for Helix to rest.
"I'm sorry for stealing your first love away from you, brother." He paused, flashing me an apologetic smile. "I'll bring her back to you, I promise," he said, a warm smile escaping his lips as tears slowly fell down from his eyes.
And just like that, he stopped breathing.
