As I attempted to leave the hall, Max caught me by the arm and pulled me aside, making sure everyone had left first. He pulled off my cap and moved my hair behind my ear, "who did this to you?!" He asked in an urgent whisper,

"He... I... I slipped, last night and hit my-" but he cut me off,

"Who was it Alex?"

"No one"

Just at that moment, as if on queue, Michael walks in, sees us and runs out again quickly. Before I could stop him, Max was chasing after him. He was trying to escape up the stairs but Max took him down and pulled him to his feet,

"Max!" I say trying to pry his hands from around Michael's neck, suffocating him.

"Max!" I yelled, louder this time, grabbing be the attention of the others who immediately ran downstairs, trying to help the gasping Michael. He let go as Bek approached. Michael fell onto the floor, taking huge breaths of air and coughing. Logan quickly held Max back before he could do anything else.

"Fine, fine!" Max surrendered nudging off Logan's grip. Rodriguez helped Michael up and he glared at me, wiping the blood that trickled out of his nose.

"What's the meaning of all this?" Bek asked looking at me, then Max, and then Michael.

"He took advantage of Alex" max said gritting is teeth in anger,

"Is this true?" Bek asked, looking at Michael,

"She came into me," he replied,

That's when Max snapped. He swung at Michael's head, planting his fist into Michael's jaw, making I'm tell in pain as he collapsed onto the floor,

"Son of a bitc-" this time no one stopped Max as he picked Michael up and pinned him against the wall, " if you ever thought her, or even look at her again, I will kill you" he barks, releasing his grip.

Michael laughed arrogantly, wiping the blood off his teeth, as Max began ascending up the stairs.

I knocked on Max's door, but he didn't open it, so I did. I saw him leaning by the sink, wiping the blood off his fist with the towel, "You didn't have to do that you know," I say sitting at the edge of his bed,

"I know"

"Do you trust these people?"

"Not really. But what other option do we have?"

"I don't think Bek's plan will work. This all seems a little...off. I mean, what will happen if they find out about our 'telepathy' thing? They'll think we're freaks, or even worse, they'll use us as a weapon," I say as Max comes over and sits next to me,

"That's why we have to keep it to ourselves, no one must know. Alex, I know this is kind of sudden and very new, but we have to learn to adapt and just go with it" He said, slowly squeezing my arm reassuringly.

"Maybe we should use it to our advantage,"

"But we don't know how it works yet, or how to take control of it"

I looked at him, "So, we train"
