TERENY
The car ride was the most silent ride I had ever had before in my life. It was beginning to become awkward once I started thinking to myself. Thinking in my deep thoughts and allowing for those voices to make an appearance. Honestly, it's the most talking I've heard since I've gotten into the car with Bruce and Ms. Debbie.

It took is about four hours to make it back into town and the closer we got to Jeremy's house, the more nervous I got. Only because I was more so hoping and praying that Martray would keep up with his end of the bargain and have Britney back at Jeremy's house before we got there. I didn't want Bruce becoming enraged because she was out with her biological father. That would just kill him.

On the other hand, I just couldn't wait to see Britten. It's been so long without my Bunches.

What was mostly on my mind is how my kids would react seeing me again. Would they know that something has changed within their mother? Babies can sense things, almost better than adults and it scared me just a little bit.

I sighed, trying to calm myself down as we turned down Jeremy's road. Ms. Debbie glanced at me due to the sigh but quickly put her eyes back onto the road.

In the driveway, we went. And when the car came to a complete stop, I was almost hesitant to get out. But once Ms. Debbie and Bruce got out of the car, I took my time getting out. They both looked at me, seeing that I was taking forever and waited. Bruce was looking at me as if he'd lost something dear to him. And I'm thinking that he may have. I mean, Gabby was his bestest friend. And now she's not here anymore. That can really bother someone.

I got out of the car and shut the door.

The three of us walked up to Jeremy's door and Ms. Debbie rang the doorbell. And before I could actually breathe, the door had come open and before us stood Jeremy with his son, Jeremih on his hip. All I could do was smile when Jeremy's eyes lit up.

Jeremy pulled me inside and hugged me, giving me the best welcome of my life. I almost teared up, but kept myself calm for the moment.

"You look great, Tereny!" Jeremy said to me as he took a step back to look at me. "How're you holding up?" He asked me. I smiled and looked down at myself.

"Okay."

"That's real good." Jeremy put Jeremih down on his toes and allowed us all inside, closing the door.

I scanned the living room in search of my children and lit up when I saw Britney running from the hallway with toys in her hands. When she realized that I was standing there, the toys dropped from her hands and she came running for me. I got onto my knees and held my arms out for her to dive into them.

"Mommy!" Britney shouted.

"Hey, baby girl! I'm home now!" I say to her as I scoop her up from the floor and hug her tight.

"I'll go and get Britten." Jeremy said as he walked to the back.

"Daddy!" Britney shouted as she looked towards Bruce. Hearing her voice made me feel at home now. The whole car ride had drained me and literally had me feeling uneasy. But now that I have Britney, I felt eased. I never wanted that feeling to go away.

Sooner, Jeremy came from the hallway, holding a bouncing Britten in his arms. Britten was bouncing happily, showing off his growing teeth and gums as he saw me and lit up like a Christmas tree.

I put Britney down onto her feet and reached for Britten. When I had him in my arms, all I could do was kiss him as he grabbed at my shirt. I cuddled him and looked at Jeremy who looked very happy to see me.

"You all wanna stay for lunch or something?" Jeremy asked us.

"I would love to, but I have some things to do around the house. I mean, if Bruce and Tereny want to, I can always call for my husband to get me." Ms. Debbie spoke.

"Sure." I say, not really wanting to go home and being on my own with Bruce right now. The vibe just wasn't there and I was sick of feeling awkward.

"Bruce are you okay with driving home?" Ms. Debbie asked, sounding very concerned about her son.

"It's no problem." He told her.

Ms. Debbie was assured so she grabbed her phone to call for Bernard.

As we all waited, Jeremy had us sitting in his living room while he made something for us. Bernard had come for Ms. Debbie and by then, Bruce was on the floor playing with Britney and Britten, despite their injuries. I'd called my parents to let them know that I was in town and that I would be by to see them after I finished lunch with Jeremy.

While Jeremy was in the kitchen whipping up whatever it was that smelt so good, I just couldn't help but watch my little family as they interacted with one another. I sighed at the happiness they felt and how good they were with each other. Bruce was excited to be around them...I could tell. But something was stopping me from adding into their happiness.

My stomach started to cramp very mildly on the right side just a bit. I didn't think much of it because I knew that it was just the baby. I rested my hand on my right side and continued to watch Bruce laugh and play with the children.

"Play, mommy?" Britney said to me as she walked over to me and tried to climb up to me. I smiled and pulled her up, sitting her onto my lap. "Play, daddy?" Britney looked down at Bruce and reached out for him.

"Which one of us do you wanna play with, Booby?" I laughed, feeling somewhat thrilled because of how big my daughter was getting. She giggled and got back down onto the floor with Bruce.

I started to wonder if she had this much fun with Martray when he had her. Probably so. I'm sure he would do anything to make her happy. I let out a small smile just thinking about it.

"Lunch is ready." Jeremy interrupted my thoughts. I look his way and noticed that he was wearing a "Love The Chef" apron.

Smiling, I stood up to my feet. All of that healthy eating at Lazarus had me feeling as if I were about to die from not eating real food. Everything was just so disgusting. I barely ate and I knew that was very unhealthy not to eat, especially while you're eating for two.

I grabbed Britten and walked with Britney into the kitchen. I settled the children and looked towards the counter where Jeremy had prepared fish and salad. I smiled and couldn't wait to dig in. It's been a while.

We said our grace and started to eat.

Lunch was good, although sitting at the table with Bruce made things feel a little awkward. With him being my husband, I would've thought things would be okay between us, but I could easily see that things were falling. It was obvious. But all before we were ready to see each other.

I couldn't help but watch him as he picked over his food. Something was clearly on his mind and it was just completely obvious that he was thinking about Gabby. There was no doubt in my mind.

I'm sure that Jeremy could feel the awkwardness. It was just there.

I just sighed and prayed for better days. Today was just not how I pictured it.
