"Okay, now, big push, big push!"

It had been midday when Killian finally arrived at the hospital with her, but it was taking a long time and that's why she was still here, at exactly 8:15pm, when she finally gave birth to the baby.

She screamed, forcing all the strength she had left inside of her to end this once and for all. To end 8 months and half of terror, to say goodbye to this baby and pretend he never existed.

Wrapping the newborn in a blanket, she forced herself to not look at it, instead focusing on her sweaty pillow.

"Great. Here we go. Good, that's good. Beautiful." The doctor kept saying as he cradled the infant in his arms. "It's a boy, Emma." There. That was one thing she didn't want to hear. Now she'd spend her life imagining what it would be like to have a little boy running around her house, with little cars as toys in his small hands.
She still refuses to look at the baby and turns away. "Emma?" She shakes her head, hoping the damn doctor will finally understand.

He's making the job much harder, but she has to resist it.
She's been training for this moment for 8 months and half.
She knows if she just doesn't look at him, she can do it.

"Oh, Emma, just so you know, you can change your mind."

Should she?

What would have been his best chance?
A life with her? An orphan who got pregnant by a thief, who knows nothing about taking care of a child and didn't read any mommy books nor listened to what the doctor said because she was just going to give him up?

Or a life with somebody else, where he could have a perfect playground in the garden, go to school and get to be picked up by his new mother every day and get new toys every week?

Or he could just stay stuck in the system, without ever having a family who loves him, just like her- no. She couldn't think like that.

And then there was Killian.
Who after 4 years of ruin comes back into her life to find her pregnant. Gods, she had to break her waters right then, like almost destiny, and he had to be the one taking her to the hospital.

Would he stay with her this time? Would he leave her again? Was he even still outside in the waiting room or had he just left?

"No. I can't be a mother." She said hoarsely.

Mary Margaret had always said Emma could do it, that she'd be there to help her every time.
But how? Would she go to the mess that was her small apartment? She didn't even have a nursery, nor baby clothes, pacifiers, baby bottles...

But having all that...
She was alone now.
If she kept him, she would always have him.
If Killian stayed, she'd have a friend to help.
She had Mary Margaret who, clearly, wouldn't mind the work of taking care of a baby, since she herself was having her own in 5 months, which was enough time to learn the basics.
She had David who could be his father figure.

Yes, she was doing it. She could do it.

"Wait." And she looks up. She sees a sweet-blue wrap with the baby in it. Her baby. She can't do this. And she's suddenly desperate to see his face. Will he have her eyes? She can't be a mother. Her hair? Her face? "Let me hold him." And she says it before she can stop herself.
