It's been a busy week guyys but hey it's just today and monday and then it's over.

She was pretty sure things weren't going well the morning after.

They were all having breakfast in an awkward silence, Killian telling her he had to go outside take care of some errands as in a way of telling Rose that it was time to leave.

Although, things changed the day after and it kept good the weeks after.
She saw him on the phone with her oh so many times.

Things were going well for the two of them - at least that's what a random person would think.

Emma just couldn't see any brightness in his eyes whenever he talked about Rose.
Not that she ever saw it, but now she saw completely the opposite.

"This isn't working." Killian said.

He was unmotivated, frustrated and disappointed.

Whenever he would talk to Emma about him and Rose, she'd just support him and give him one of her most worked up smiles - he knew it was fake.

Did it mean she didn't like him and Rose together? Did it mean she still had feelings for him?

"You gotta be patient, man." Jefferson snorted.

"It's been a bloody month! I'm tired of this. I'm tired of lying to her, to both of them!"

"Hum.." Jefferson stared at the wall behind him, as if lost in his own thoughts, as he took a sip of his beer. "Then we should start plan B."

"What's plan B?"

"You break up with Rose."

"Already intended on that."

"Yeah, and you're going to be really attentive and see if Emma is relieved when you tell her the news."

"I think the only time I'll see her relieved is when I'm 80 years old and I tell her I have a sudden deadly disease." He mumbled as he kept his work at the bar.

He decides to talk with Rose about it when they're in her apartment.

Did he ever think this conversation would end up with her begging and sobbing for him? Nope.

She was apologizing for every single thing she's never done and following him to the elevator, and by the time they were both outside near his car, she started yelling.

"This is all about Emma, isn't it? She fucking told me not to give up on you, that you needed me, but this was all a play!"

"What?"

"She's such a- ohhh I get now why Olivia told me all that."

"Emma has nothing to do with this. Don't talk about her like-"

"You keep falling like a fool for her? She's manipulative and she? She's manipulating you so well. She says she'll stay in your house for a year? When you think about it, it's been five years and she's still around you, using her son as an excuse-"

"Stop saying crap. You know nothing."

"I'm still here, Killian. I won't give up. I... I love you." He rolled his eyes at that, he really did. "And I care for you too much to just let go of you as you're telling me to do-"

"I don't need you."

"Just know that I'll always be here. I'll wait."

---

"This Saturday, I was thinking on spending some time with Mary Margaret... I was wondering if you could take care of Henry just for the afternoon-"

"Don't worry. Your... mother has already called me. I will take care of the little boy."

"Thank you."

"You told Rose that I needed her?"

"What? Oh- I just- I told her she shouldn't give up on you or because of me being here and our past..."

"I broke up with her today."

"Oh." she looked down at her plate. She should try to cook some day because she was starting to realize it was always him the one who cooked. Well she was also always the one who did the dishes. He sometimes helped. Damn. What was she even thinking. They broke up. Was she supposed to be happy or sad? She actually didn't feel any surprise. It was like she had foreseen this happening. "You okay?"

"Yeah. It was never a hard feeling for her. Or a feeling at all."

"So... you're just messing around?"

She quickly regretted saying that when he looked offended.

"You think that's what I've been doing in the last 5 years?"

"Yeah, why not?" she sounded defensive now.

"You really think that low of me? My brother was dying and you think I went to Ireland to 'mess around'? I left you, alone, to 'mess around'?! I welcome you to my home after all this time to 'mess around'?!"

She's staring at him, his words hitting her like canon balls and she doesn't know what to do with all this information.

He wanted to scream "Don't you see I've always loved you?!" at her and just slap her with the truth once and for all, stop wasting time on these stupid little conflicts and just hold her because that's all he needs in life and it's just so simple and easy to get.

"I didn't mean it like that- I didn't know."

"Oh no, Emma." she cringed when he said her name. "You know perfectly what's happening here." He whispered. "The problem is... you're just pretending you don't see it, pushing it away."

She's looking at him, knowing exactly what he means. He knows.

He knows she's pushing him away just to protect herself, pretending to be a person that she's not. An armor. An armor that she once didn't need. An armor that tells her that her love for him is impossible. An armor that hurts her constantly.

He's walking away, leaving her and Henry alone in the kitchen, his plate of food untouched.

"Where are you going?" she asks, her voice stubbornly weak.

"I'm not hungry."

---

"Did you ever think that maybe he still feels....?" Mary Margaret asked.

"I never thought... it's just.. that night. What he said..."

"It's not wrong you know? Falling in love with him again."

"I'm not sure.... that'll be good for Henry."

"I think it's about you, Emma. You're afraid. It's okay. If true love was easy we'd all have it."

"Mary Margaret this is not some movie or book or whatever. That was so cheesy. Just noooo way." she started laughing and Mary Margaret smiled because she knew:

this was the beginning of something so beautiful.

Now they just needed to see it themselves.

"Okay okay, now, more shopping, less true love." Emma said.
