I am trying so hard to go back to sleep when my mom makes her entry into the room. "No excuses, Aiden. You are taking Lily to school today and taking part in all the competitions with her just as she wishes. Get that?"
I stare at in her disbelief and mutter softly, "Don't do this mom, please."
Her eyes grow softer and she sits down beside me, slowly putting a hand across my shoulder. She draws my head towards her shoulders and caresses me with her soft, warm hands.
Her voice is almost inaudible when she says, "Please, Aiden. You can't do this forever. It's hard for me, your dad and Lily too. But we are trying hard. You need to try too. Please. It's not going to be easy, I know. Give it a go, would you?" There are little drops of tears in her eyes and they melt me so hard.
My mother is one of the strongest women that I have ever met. I don't want to break her. I can't say no. So, against all my will, I nod.
There is a little smile on her lips.
Today is going to be hard.
