I am a little taken aback when I hear someone sobbing beside me. I listen closely, only to find out that I have company.
"Who is there?" I ask, my heart quickening its pace. The sobs come to an abrupt halt.
Then I hear ruffling as someone gets up, walks slowly and gets ready to take the stairs down.
In mild curiosity, I take my phone up and turn on the torch. The sudden beam of light blinds me for a second, but my eyes easily adjust and I am not surprised to see the person standing there.
She hurries down and I raise my hands, unsure of what to do.
Without thinking, I whisper, "Don't leave, please."
She turns around and stares at me.
"Turn it off," she commands, pointing at my phone. I quickly do so and as the darkness engulfs both of us again, I feel her sitting beside me.
