Chapter 15

"Someones here." Peter whispers quietly. "Someone who isn't usually here."

Rapunzel's mouth opens and closes in confusion, until he runs out of his cabin, she running quickly behind. "What's happening?" She calls after him.

Peter turns around in shock like he just remembered she was there, then frantically looks around. A lost boy with a cloak over his head goes by from marching on duty, and Peter quickly stands in front of him. "Felix, go in there with Rapunzel and watch her for me."

"I-" She tries to say, but Felix nods before she could protest and Peter directs his own gaze to her.

"Rapunzel, stay in the cabin. Please, I am begging you. I'll be back soon, I promise."

His face was filled with such desperation, that she couldn't help but nod in agreement.

"Thank you so much." He smiles at her then takes off in the air. She was nothing but worried for him, but she listened to what he said anyway and went in the cabin.

"Do you have any idea what that was about?" She asks Felix when he closes the door behind himself.

"None." He says quietly, sitting down on the chair farthest away from her.

"I don't bite." She laughs, suddenly remembering the promise she made to herself about all of the lost boys. She was so infatuated with Peter that she forgot about every single other of the lost boys who are still as lost as ever. Especially Felix. "Why do you have your cloak on like that all the time?" She asks softly, trying her hardest not to intimidate him. She wanted him to open up to her, not cower away because of her tone.

But he doesn't answer.

"You should take it off." She tries.

He just looks away.

"Come on," Rapunzel says, standing up and walking to him. He stands up and backs away from her to the wall. She noticed how uncomfortable he was, so she backed away. "Sorry."

He nods and backs away from the wall. But unfortunately for him, the cloak was caught on a nail, and it brought off the hood from the top of his head.

What was on his head made her eyes widen and her hand go to her mouth in horror.

Peter Pan knew everything.

Well, almost everything.

Rapunzel was so confusing to him, such an intoxicating mystery to him that he wanted nothing more than to solve. At times the secrecy to her would make him smile, make him love that there was something that wasn't completely obvious to him.

At other times, it frustrated him. She was untraceable, which made everything worse for him in the fact that she is being hunted by Hook and if she is taken by him, she will not easily be found.

But besides her, everything was too obvious to him.

There is too much thoughts, wishes, lives on this island. All of them get thrown to Peter, everyone on-looking him, expecting him to be a good master of Neverland, since every move he makes effects the whole mood of the island.

The pressure is making him question the good in his heart while his shadow was taking over every time he fell asleep.

You should let me take over now. The annoying voice in his head whispers. It has been with him ever since he had came to Neverland, ever since he had made himself the maker of the land. Trying to get him to let his dark side take over, just to forget every single good deed he's done. The voice in his head and the expectations of everyone is driving him to insanity.

"No." Peter whispers, now walking on the floor searching for Hook's ship. Hook would certainly see Peter if he was flying. "I am not letting you take over."

Do you honestly think she'll ever love you? His alter hisses into his head. You're a monster,Peter Pan. Don't try to hide it.

"You're the monster, not me." He says, hoping it will convince himself as well.

And I am you.

"Shut it."

How do you think she will react once she finds out what you have been keeping from her?

"I said, shut it!"

It's not much longer before she will get it too. She'll get the alter ego too, because you are beginning to love her. You wreck everything you touch.

"Stop..." Peter says quietly, though he knows his shadow self is not done and his protests are worthless.

Just like you. The voice hisses. You are just worthless. Nothing more, nothing less.

"You said it yourself, you are me."

The voice in his head chuckles. I won't be. Not after I destroy you from the inside out.

Peter stops walking, closing his eyes and trying to compose himself. The only time he can ignore the shadow is when he is with Rapunzel.

Rapunzel.

He forced a picture of her into his mind. Thinking of everything they had lived for, talked for since they have met. They both were saving each other in ways more than they both thought.

The voice lets off a distant hiss at the picture and thought of her. Remember this, Peter. The voice came back, yet it was not as strong as it was before and it seemed as though it was a distance away. You will never win. Good guys never win, especially on Neverland.

"You're wrong." Peter says, holding his hands to his ears, trying to force the voice away.

And when you are done for, Neverland will go to how it's supposed to be. Rogue.

Voices from all around him bombarded him, the thoughts of the lost boys and the mermaids and the fairies but not Rapunzel's- and he couldn't help but fall to his knees in despair, still holding his hands to his ears as hard as he can in hope that the noise will not reach him if he does so.

He couldn't help but let the scream of desperation fly out of his mouth. He has been waiting to do that for so long- too long, and he no longer could hold it in any longer.

He was feeling misery for this life, hatred for the feelings that are clouding him- feelings that aren't even his own.

They wouldn't leave, the thoughts only got louder and more rough. The thoughts of pirates who were still mourning over their shipmates deaths, lost boys sadness over being lost, and everyone's expectations that Peter will make it all better.

He couldn't take it all.

Not anymore.

"Felix..." Rapunzel whispers in shock, looking at the top of his head. Though short hair can cover only some of it, there is hair that still has not grown in completely yet. Down his neck as well, all burns and scars from whips. She has trouble breathing as well as she watches it, him quickly pulling his hood up to hide it again. "Who did that to you?"

He just closes his eyes from memories and shakes his head. She didn't want to press him, but the worst thought came into her mind.

"It wasn't Peter, was it?"

Before he could answer, an ear splitting scream filled the air around them. Felix and Rapunzel looked at each other with frantic eyes.

"Was that-?" He asks quietly.

"Peter." She finishes for him. Before the lost boy could protest, she broke her promise and ran out of the cabin to find Peter Pan. She could only hope that nothing too bad happened yet.
