Dumb/Cliché Fanfic Thing: Currency
I've seen someone else mention this, but you need to use the right currency.
I think we'd all rather you use the right currency for that part of the world and make the amount unrealistic, then for it to be realistic and the wrong kind of money. Although having it be both right and realistic would be fantastic too.
