Dumb/Cliché Fanfic Thing: Younger Siblings
Nothing is wrong with having a family for the main character, keeping them in the story is even better (they usually disappear), but the majority of the time the story goes something like this:
"Mom/Dad/Both died/left us and now I have to take care of my little brother(s)/sister(s). It isn't hard at all even though I have no job, can't pay the bills, and how am I even in a house at this point? Any other legal guardians don't exist in my life because the burden has to fall on me (for unknown reasons). Oh, and I'm a fabulous parent even though I have no expertise in anything and I wouldn't be able to take care of myself for I'm still young. But hey, I'm tough because I learned to take care of my sibling(s), so there." ~Main Character
