Dumb/Cliché Fanfic Thing: Restaurants
The main one I've seen a lot is Starbucks, but depending on the fandom you'll get other restaurants/cafes/stores/other that are included in every single story you read.
Believe it or not, there are other places besides -fill in the blank- to go to! And, you can trust me on this, you won't die if you put those other places in the book. Put a place in that I didn't even know existed for all I care!
When it comes to story telling, it's always better to stand out (....wait.....well, it depends on what kind of stand out, but the stand out where you've got fresh not-overused ideas would be ideal).
