Dumb/Cliché Fanfic Thing: Author Adding Themself
The author of the story adds themself or an OC to the story.
Now this isn't always bad, short appearances aren't annoying, it's when they get the spotlight. They're the person with all the problems and the one that saves everyone's butt in the end. What makes it worse is they usually have the randomest of names. And, as I've come to realize, the author also can't have their character be a normal person, they either have to be a ninja with 50 black belts or not fully human (usually having some superhero ability of sorts).
I don't mind seeing authors in their own work, but when they become a huge character it makes me question things.
