(Not Edited)

It's going down, I'm yellin'; "Timber!"/ You better move, you better dance./ Let's make a night, you wont remember./ I'll be the one, you wont forget!!

I sighed in the tight proximity of the hall closet, the party raging on right outside the door. I sat on the floor with my legs crossed indian style gently twirling the bottom of my skirt between my fingers. Tear stains polluting my face and I could tell my make up had to be smeared. However, I couldn't help but laugh pitifully at the realization I'd basically waisted a nice outfit for nothing. I rubbed my hands over my eyes as I flicked on the closet light, taking a moment to adjust before my phone began to vibrate in my bra.

Sunshine: Where are you? #Worried!

Me: Coat closet, I'm fine.

A few moments went by before the door flung open and Sunny made herself visible. Her floral pink, purple, and yellow bikini top combined with a pair of short shorts that had the pockets sneaking from underneath. Her blonde hair tied back into a tight ponytail as she stood with a hand on her hip. "This party was to make you feel better, not worse."

"I know, and it is." I smiled trying to keep my face in the shadows as she softly slipped to the floor next to me, closing the closet door. She chocked her head to the side giving me a disbelieving frown as she softly turned my face towards her.

"Yeah, I'd say it's making you feel so much better. You're basically glowing!" Sunny chuckled sarcastically as she let me go. She pulled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them before continuing. "Look, if it's making you feel worse we can get rid of all these people."

"No, really. Don't worry about it." I frowned looking down at the outfit Sunny had helped me pick out. A red halter top tying around my neck into a bow, a white flowing skirt that stopped a couple inches above my knee in the front but lower in the back, and red wedged sandals the  tied at my ankle. My hair was down in beach curls to top the outfit off, and standing in the mirror right before the party started, I felt okay for the first time since Elijah had shot himself. But once the party had started, once the music was blarring loud enough, I couldn't help but wish he was here to see me and have fun himself. "I wasted a outfit and you lost a good half of yours."

"Don't judge! I was about to get into the pool but I noticed you were missing." Sunny smiled wrapping her arm over my shoulder and giving me a soft reassuring squeeze. The music switched, loud chants of teenagers growing in volume as the blender sounded barely audible over the commotion. "He's going to be okay. He's Elijah Storm, and if any of the rumors are true he's more then just a fighter. It's going to take more the a bullet to stop him."

"I could've stopped him!" I yelled suddenly, tears beginning to pour down my cheeks and creating small dark puddles on the front of my top. Rage began to fill my body to the rim as I clenched my fist tightly around the bottom of my skirt. "I could've stopped him. He told me not to hang up, he told me. He begged me. That day at the church he said I was all he had left, but I let him walk away thinking I didn't care!"

"Raine he know's you cared. He was just really upset alright?" Sunny sighed rubbing my back lightly but I shrugged her off. I softly began to hit my head against the wall as my tears boiled over.

"I love him so much. I just... I couldn't look him in the face after that night." I whimpered sniffling. Sunny held me for a little over 15 minutes while I cried. I began to calm down just as my phone vibrated at my side, I took a deep breath to calm myself before clearing my throat and answering. "Hello?"

"Raine, it's Elijah's grandmother sweety. We need you to come to the hospital immediately!" Her voice sounded into the phone quickly. I gave Sunny as panicked look before rushing out of the closet and into the party. I raced through the crowd, Sunny hot on my heels, as I searched for Carol. Finding her outside by the pool smiling as she swayed her hips swayed back and forth to the beat of the music.

"Carol!" I yelled  from across the area before rushing over to her, my eyes puffy from crying. "It's Elijah, his grandma called. We need to go, I think he might be... We have to go now!"

"You guys go. I'll get the people out of here and see if Chad's willing to drive me out there." Sunny insisted and I hugged her before scammering to the car with Carol, both of us breathing heavily and panicked.

*~*

"Paging Dr. Porter to surgery, pagining Dr. Porter to surgery." The intercom clicked as my wedges collided with the white tile floor of the hospital, Carol's flip-flops not far behind. Neither of us had bothered to change so she was still dressed in her dark purple tank top and black mini skirt as we made our way swiftly through the hospital.

"RAINE!" Joey's tiny voice rang through the hallway moments before her tiny body was in my arms. It was a big relief just to be holding her, I hadn't realized how much I missed her. "I missed you."

"He's awake." His grandma smiled as I placed Joey back on her feet. I could tell my face brightened at the words, I could feel my whole body heat up as she ushered me into the direction of his room. I stopped dead in my tracks at the doorway, awestruck by the sight before me. There he was, Eliajh Storm.

He looked different with his hair so short, it had just started to grow back. He sat up in the hospital bed with his shirt off, arms behind his head as his blue eyes danced across the roommore mischievious then ever, and a classic grin perched on his lips.

"Hi sexy." He smirked crookedly as I stare at him too deep in shock to move. I watched as his face went from smug to concerned in under a mili-second. "You were crying, I can tell. Come here."

"I am so sorry." I frowned locking my eyes to the floor as I walked closer to the bed, his blue eyes  piercing into my soul as the smirk left his lips. "I should've listened when you told me you needed me."

"No, I should've paid attention when you basically begged me for space. I knew you needed it but..." He driifted, his eyes finding there way to the corner of the room. "I don't want to talk about this.  I'm going home tomorrow. I wanted to get out of here today but the doctor tricked meinto one more night."

"You're stubborn, how long were you supposed to stay in here?" I asked sitting on the side of him as he grinned at me, making my heart flutter as I tapped his nose. "You look weird with your hair cut."

"It'll grow back and around 4 days or so. I think I'm alright though." He smiled wrapping his fingers into mine as I blushed without warning. "I don't know if I'm going back to my house or my grandma's. She paid the rent for me but I'll pay her back once this crap heals up enough."

"You're going back to boxing?" I frowned looking at the door instead of at him. "Do you think that's a good idead? I mean, you're recovering from a bullet to the chest. Maybe you should just stay with your grandma a while you know?"

"The plan is to go back to it, start saving up to get a new place. I might sell my car if it gets us out of there quicker." Elijah sighed squeezing my hand a little tighter to get my attention. "Joey's moving back in with me, to take care of me and help pack the place up so when we move everything will be ready and we can get out of there as quick as possible. I'm just scare my mom will come back and we wont be there."

"She'll go to your grandma's no doubt." I smiled tight lipped as I leaned down to kiss his forehead. The door opened as Jared and Carol walked in, Jared's face red and puffy as he shot a smile to Elijah.

"Dude, you had us all scared to fucking death. As soon as you get better I'm pounding your face in!" Jared frowned jumping onto the bed, giving Elijah's wounds little thought, but Elijah didn't seem to notice as he put Jared into a quick head lock. "Don't do that to us again dude. You don't know how many crying girls were calling my phone!"

"Oh whatever little bitch!" Elijah chuckled letting Jared go and giving Carol a hug as he caught his breath. His grandma and Joey wondered into the room,Joey tucking herself underneath her brothers arms gently as she kissed her hand and placed it over his bandage. The room was quiet but we'd all reach a understanding to where we were too happy to care about anything else.
