Sarah:

This is completely preposterous! Even my parents don’t have a problem with it, as long as he sleeps in the guest room. What really pisses me off is that Leon already planned to stay at my place, considering his bag lying there under the guest bed. Have my parents completely forgotten that this bastard is Leon Ferron—my childhood bully?! Damn it, I should’ve told them about my school issues that involved him entering my life again. But no, I just had to keep it from them. I should’ve seen this coming.

Once everyone has gone back home, the time being two in the morning, I walk into my room to change back to my pajamas. Just as I’m entering my room, I find Leon lying there with his hands behind his head, waiting for me. Groaning in annoyance, I tug at his wrist, pulling him out of my bed. “Damn it, Leon! You’re supposed to be in your room!”

“Yeah…if I’m sleeping, but no one said I can hang out in here. After all, your dear Seth is allowed. So it wouldn’t be fair.” A smirk etched on his lips, and in return, I glared, demanding him to leave. “Fine…jeez…aren’t you biased?”

“I’m not”—

“Kidding,” he interrupted, smirk still apparent on his face. “Seriously though, you’re room is damn comfy.”

I rolled my eyes, restraining a smile. “Yeah, I appreciate the compliment about my room. Now please, go to your room.”

“My room?” he questioned. “Well…okay, Mother.” Another smirk followed, forcing me to push him out of my room, locking him out into the hallway.

Just as I flop on my bed, I hear the vibration of my phone; it’s a message from Seth.

You still awake?

Reading it over, I suppressed a smile, somewhat happy that he wants to talk to me late night. Why I was so giddy, I don’t completely understand.

Yeah.

Almost immediately after my reply, my phone vibrated more frivolously; this time, he’s calling. When I pick up the phone, I greet, “Hey, Seth.”

“Hey,” he replied in the same tone.

“How was it—you know, how did your New Years go?”

“Pretty good but it was kind of…boring. What about you?”

“Um…” I began, trying to think of how I should describe it, “it was…decent.”

“Can you elaborate on that?”

I sighed. “Leon stopped by my house this morning, asking if he could stay for a while. I would’ve kicked him out if he wasn’t so sick. Anyway, he ran away from home and now he’s staying at my place for God knows how long,” I explained despairingly.

“Oh…” was all he said. Oh God, I knew I should’ve told Leon that I didn’t want him here. “How are you handling that now?”

“Eh…” I replied uncertainly. “So…where are you?”

“I’m home now. Why? Want me to come over?” I bit my lip, somewhat embarrassed that he’s already said it before I could.

“Yeah…” I replied slowly. “But it’s like two in the morning—it’s too late. I don’t think its best that you”—

“No,” he answered abruptly, “I’m coming.”

“But”—

“I’m coming. No objections.” Immediately after, he hung up as though he’s in a rush.

Still not a bit drowsy, I hear a knock on my…window? Opening the curtains, blinds, and the actual window, sure enough, Seth’s right in front of me, dark eyes gazing at me unwaveringly. “What the heck? You could’ve used the door.”
