"What's wrong Kieran?" Amy asked after opening the bedroom door.

"We have to report to work, you need to take over. The board is threatening to overthrow." He said in one breath as he worked on his phone.

Overthrow?

"What about school? I just started college." She said sitting on the bed.

"Amy, I know your end game is being a lawyer, but if you become a lawyer," He shifted so that they were looking at each other. More like into each other's eyes.

"You will be a dirty lawyer." He completed his sentence.

All Amy ever wanted was to be the lawyer that takes down criminals, but since she found out that she had been living with criminals her whole life, it had changed everything for her. She couldn't differentiate right from wrong anymore. She was going to choose her parents over her career. Who wouldn't?

Amy just wanted to make her parents proud. She sat up quickly, and looked at Kieran who was giving her an expectant look that screamed 'make the right decision'.

Giving him a nod, Kieran hugged her.

Amy smiled because of the gesture then sobbed and the next minute she was completely breaking. That is what grief looked like.

Kieran who had let go of her took her back in his arms. He knew that it was finally sinking in. He knew that she had finally accepted the fact that her parents were no more.

"It's okay muffin, let it all out I'm here."

That's all that it took for Amy to realize that she wasn't alone.

She tried swallowing the sobs and breathing in and out but failed. She felt Kieran's thumb on her cheek wiping her tears. She couldn't help but lean in at the slightest touch.

Kieran stared at her as he wiped her tears, Amy felt as if his eyes were looking deep into her soul. All she could see in his eyes was love, confusion and lust.

Kieran moved his thumb to her lips, his eyes dropping from her eyes to her lips. Her whole body was tense as she wanted him to kiss her right there and then.

He moved closer to her and her body imitated his action. He dropped his thumb from her lip to her thigh and Amy couldn't help but feel the sparks that drove her crazy.

One more move and their lips would lock. Closing her eyes she breathed in and out her breath fanning his face. She opened her eyes to finally lock their lips but her phone started ringing.

Kieran covered his face with his hands.

Amy picked up her phone and answered the unknown number putting it on speaker.

"Hello is this Amy Whittaker?" The ladylike voice from the other side asked.

She breathed in deeply and let go as she looked at Kieran. "Yeah, it is. How may I help you?"

"My name is Mavis and I am your assistant," Mavis stated.

Work. Kieran mouthed to Amy.

"Excuse me?"

"Yes, ma'am I'm also assigned to help you adjust." The statement confused Amy.

"What?"

"Yes ma'am," Mavis said.

"I thought that was Kieran's job to help me adjust."

"Am sorry ma'am but I don't know any Kieran but everyone is set and ready for you at the conference room."

"Right now?"

"Yes, Ms Whittaker right now." She affirmed.

"Mavis if the board members are waiting for me right now, why the hell did you not tell me this beforehand like an hour ago?" Amy asked.
