Things We Said

19 2 2

From all the things we said
From the night before
Let the rain pour
A whole new side of you
That matched a not so new side of me
Tracing fingertips
Soft pink lips
Fell asleep peacefully

I wanted to play connect the dots
With all your beauty marks
I wanted to feel your warmth clung to me
Sometimes I wish we could be
Together on the lonely nights
Turn off the lights
Love here to stay
As we lay
Blissfully in the night sky
I'm just a guy
Can you not see that I'm nothing special
Tea whistling on the kettle
To tell you the truth
Just a simple tooth
Partnered with its other friends
Sits within those lips
And when you smile wide
You reveal
A sort of feel
Within me
That melts my heart
But that smile is so far away

So now as I lay
Alone in bed
Running fingers through the hair on my head
Wishing it was your fingers instead
So all those things we said
I hope it had lead
To our dreams
Into reality
Can't you see

That you're just too marvelous
For my little heart, this
Life
Stab me with a knife
If I can't be with you
But you ask who
I'm sure they're reading this now
A kiss I hope you allow
Simply that
From where I sat
I wish I would've known
How it felt
Fingers in the loops for a belt
Running hands up your waist
Up your bare back
I wish I won't lack
What you desire
Because my heart is on fire
