the moon sleeps in my veins, lover, the moon rests tangled in my hair like a halo intertwined between each strand this is why you think i am an angel, i am not. lover, i've thrown my secrets to the sea. moonlight shines through my bones, lover, the tides are pulled by me. the ocean crashes again and against the rocks like dead bodies like ships like skilled sailors who sailed rowdy seas- do not learn the ocean and think that is the end of it. the moon shatters under each of my eyelashes, lover, my eyes are brown like the forests i hide in. do not praise the moon and forget her blood leaks as the oceans.

i sit at my window and watch the sky change from dark to light the sun poking out from between the trees, she pauses. she washes me over in sunlight. she makes me tea with extra honey and lemon, she sits down and talks to me. she tells me about the moon, i tell her about you.
