̶ ̶  xlv. TAKE YOUR TIME.

watch their smile grow over a video they promise is funny. listen to the way they laugh or how they scratch the back of their head out of habit whenever they are nervous. learn how to comfort them when they find their hands shaking and their breathing is uneven and tears brim their lashes but try to hold it back in fear of you seeing them cry. count the scars on the back of their hands and play connect the dots with the birthmarks on their back. find your reflection in their eyes moments before their lips press softly against yours and watch how the once clear mirrored image is now blurry with infatuation as their hands crawl up your arms and hold your face gently. count the stars that dance on their chest when the moon has waved hello and you find yourselves talking about aliens and the future and how one day you might have a kid named junior or jake or oliver or maxwell- a topic you found them changing their opinion on every time the conversation would arrive.

admire how saturn spins on their finger while their other hand runs through your hair. fall asleep to the rhythm of their heart.

take your time.
