Weekdays, from 8:25 a.m. to 3:01 p.m., we adhere to a strict regimen. Everything in our lives controlled. But then something like the murder of Jason Blossom happens, and you realise there is no such thing as control. There is only chaos. Nevertheless, some of us strive to impose and maintain order in what is, fundamentally, an orderless world. A fact which would very soon be confirmed in ways none of us could have foreseen.
I popped my lips after applying a layer of pink lipstick on my lips, I put my lipstick back in my bag and fixed my hair in the mirror. Then I noticed the small markings at my wrists, I quickly tugged my sleeves down further and took a glance around the school making sure no one saw me.
"Hey Anna!" A voice yelled out, I turned around seeing Archie jogging towards me. "Hey, Archie" I said softly giving him a small smile, we don't talk much and I've never really considered Archie a close friend but since he's Jughead's best friend it'll probably be good for us to be friends. "You may or may not know this, but it's Jughead's birthday" my eyes widened "what! And he didn't say anything?" I said my smile growing into a grin. "It's tomorrow, and he doesn't like making a big deal out of it" Archie said, my eyebrows furrowed together, it's his birthday why wouldn't he at least tell me. "Every year, he goes to a double feature at the Bijou, it's like this tradition. Last few years, I've been his movie-buddy. But now that he has a girlfriend....." He trailed off. "Well, of course, I'll take him. But you should still come with us" I offered shutting my locker and beginning to move towards my class Archie walked next to me and said "no, I don't wanna be a third wheel".
"I'm sure that isn't going to happen, I'll keep you in the loop Archie" I smiled "the three musketeers" he smirked, "actually there's were four musketeers Archie" I chuckled. His cheeks turned scarlet with embarrassment a hand running through his hair. "I'll see you later Anna" he said "bye Archie" I grinned waving at him as he walked into his classroom.
"Yeah, this is Jones" Mr Jones raspy voice answered through the phone, "Mr Jones hi, this is Anna Underwood" I said tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. "Jughead's girlfriend" he stated, "I remember you" he added.
"Great, well, I'm calling because it's Jughead's birthday tomorrow, and I wanted to see if maybe you would come see a movie with us, maybe grab dinner?" I asked, "does he know you're calling me?" He countered. "No, I thought maybe I'd surprise him" I said, "oh, man. There's one thing that Jughead likes less than surprises, and that's his birthday. Kid's never even had a party, never wanted one" Mr Jones said. My eyes widened at his words "what? Never?" I replied "Mmm-hmm, anyway, I think the best gift that I could give to Jughead would be to stay away. But I appreciate the call, Annabelle" he hung up after he said my name. I pulled my phone away from my ear and sighed, if he thinks I'm going to give up that easily he's mistaken.
