Chapter 15

As (Y/N) was flying the Berg, for once, she enjoyed the silence of everything. Everything seems so peaceful somehow. (Y/N) savored that time. She used to have that, until she found out that she was the Cure, that she can save everyone.

Now, her life was chaos and trouble and to be honest, she was already tired. She wanted to let go of it all and just disappear but the thought of her friends, more importantly, Newt keeps her stuck in this world.

"Where are you?" She mumbled as she continued searching.

Hours have passed and (Y/N) could see the sun rising. It was a view that she doesn't always have now but she used to before. (Y/N) was too occupied with the view of the rising sun that she almost missed her friends that were blended in the darkness of the world.

(Y/N) checked and saw that everyone was still there. No one was lost or died, which made (Y/N) let out a breathe of relief. She was so excited to see her friends again. She didn't care if they would push her away or call her a monster, all she cares is keeping them safe.

(Y/N) was getting nearer and she was about to land the Berg but then her hands froze when she saw the group of girls that was near the boy's group. She saw that Thomas also froze in his path. Probably in seeing Teresa again. (Y/N) was snapped out of her daze when she heard something inside the Berg. Taking a Launcher in her hands, she left her pilot's seat and went towards the noise.

She walked and walked until she reached the room where her cages were. She saw that one of the cages were open. Everyone was still asleep except for those who escaped. (Y/N) left the room and locked it tight. Clutching the Launcher as tight as she can, she took quiet steps around the Berg. She completely relied on her ears as her eyes since she could still hear the noise. Noise that sounded like footsteps.

When (Y/N) took another step, she felt the Berg move and turn to another direction. She immediately ran to the control room and saw that the pilot of the Berg was sitting and there was a guard with him. The guard didn't have a Launcher but a gun with him. (Y/N)'s eyes widened and she saw that the guard was pointing the gun at her. He shot the gun and it hit her shoulder. It wasn't a bullet that was in her but it made her drowsy. She knew that it must've been a tranquilizer.

Not letting them get her once again, she shot the Launcher at the guard which hit his leg. Then using all the strength that she has and trying to stay awake, (Y/N) went to the part of the Berg that she could escape. The very bottom of the Berg where she was brought inside the cage. The Launcher was going to electrocute its victim for five minutes but (Y/N) knew that she didn't have five minutes before she'd go to sleep.

Opening the hatch, she tied a rope to a double knot on a part of the Berg. The strong gust of wind that greeted her, made (Y/N) wake up for a few more seconds. Holding the rope tightly and taking in a deep breathe, (Y/N) jumped from the Berg. She screamed in pain because of the burning sensation in her hands as she slipped down form the rope.

When she was near the end of the rope, (Y/N) swung the rope to the direction where the Gladers were. They were so near and that was motivation enough to just stay awake for a few more seconds.

Letting go of the rope, (Y/N) landed on the ground by her back and rolled down towards the Gladers. (Y/N) was now lying on the hot ground on her back. Her entire body aches and any movement sent jolts of pain. She saw her hands which were stained with blood. Her blood.

(Y/N) was panting really hard and she was glad that she was able to catch her breath now. She turned her body and saw the group of Gladers just a few feet away from her. They were all looking at Thomas who was taken with Group B. Despite the pain in her entire body, (Y/N) lifted her hand and was trying to reach out to them. To anyone of them, if she can.
