Caffeine Paradise

4 1 2

The morning dark sits quiet
as the overnight rain settles
and all the world is yet still
and roses keep closed their petals

Here I venture out half asleep
to get my coffee and start working
A creeping cat stops to stare
wondering why I am lurking

The girl smiles behind the counter
Hands my cup and wishes me well
As I think on the tasks that lay
out that door; I take in the smell

The scent alone opens my eyes
like a dark caffeine paradise
Then I know I can begin
and like the burning sun I rise
