*Ultima's POV*
All was quite in the cabin as everyone was asleep. It was around three o'clock in the morning when Ultima was woken up by the wind whistling though a gap in the window of his bedroom. Considering the fact the bedroom was warm, it was rather annoying because he was beginning to feel the cold from the window. He growls in annoyance as he get out of bed. "What on Earth is going on?" He growls as he rubs the sleep from his eyes. He leaves his bedroom and goes downstairs, a few steps squeaking on the way down. Once he gets to one of the living room windows, his eyes widen in shock. Outside snow was whipping around in the air as a blizzard was going on outside. "Well this is Minnesota after all. We're no longer in the tropics of Isla Sorna anymore." He stars out the window at the snow, watching the snowflakes as they fall past the window. He shakes his head, knowing these there will be a few feet of snow after the snowstorm blocking the window. "I know winter was bad but this takes the icing on the cake." Ultima smirks at his own joke. He continues to watch the snow fall until he starts to get bored.
*Vincent's POV*
The whistling of the wind wakes up Vincent in the middle of the night. He leaves the room, careful not to wake Atlas since Atlas was known to be really grumpy if woken up from a deep sleep, leaves the room. He heads downstairs and sees Ultima sitting in the bay window, watching the snow. "Couldn't sleep either, eh?"
Ultima shakes his head. "I don't see how anyone can sleep with this wind. We slept through hurricane winds once before but this is entirely different. It's just as loud but it's very cold. Still how can anyone sleep through this."
"Atlas is sleeping like the dead," said Vincent, earning a slight chuckle from Ultima. "Plus Jade as well as Tidus are still sleeping as well. But it's best if they sleep. Jade was really nervous during the plane ride and Tidus didn't sleep at all either since he was worrying too much during the first flight." Vincent shakes his head. "I know he couldn't really help it, I mean we haven't been human for too long either."
"That is true but we are still new at being human, which was why mom had us all read a lot of books about human biology as well as different diseases humans can get as well." Ultima rubs his temples, remembering reading a chapter about AIDS and what it did to the human body. "I read so much I gave myself a migraine."
Vincent groans. "Too bad we are not in high school. We can learn more."
"We are reading at a college level. We'd be in college considering what we had learned," growls Vincent.
All through the night Vincent and Ultima kept arguing about high school and college and wether or not if they should continue being home-schooled.
Around eight o'clock in the morning, the rest of the house was awake. Y/n looks out the window and whistles. "Looks like we have our work cut out for us." She could see a couple felled trees in the driveway as well as a lot of debris on the ground as well. "Well who's up for some fun the snow?" Y/n jokingly asks a group of not too enthused teenagers and a grumpy boyfriend.
*Y/n's POV*
Y/n could tell that her boyfriend and her kids were not too thrilled to clear the driveway of debris from the snowstorm. "It's either help clean the driveway or we will be stuck here until someone does come clear it," said Y/n in her "mom" voice. She shakes her head. "I know you guys want to go explore one of the cities but until the driveway is cleared no one is going anywhere."
"We will be frozen solid because of how cold it is out there," said Jade. She pulls out her phone and goes to her mom to show her the temperature outside. "It's negative twenty-one degrees Fahrenheit outside. That's past the danger zone to be outside in the cold without any repercussions."
Y/n looks at Jade, quit puzzled. "Seems someone had done their research on temperature extremes." Y/n couldn't help but smile. "Okay. You have me convinced. We will take thirty minute intervals where we clean the driveway and then thirty minutes to an hour to take a break from the cold. The last thing we don't want is someone get frostbite," said Y/n.
Atlas groans in disgust. "Last thing we need that to happen. Plus I don't think any of us here want that to happen considering the fact as to how it can damage skin as well as fingers, toes, your nose and ears," said Atlas.
"Precisely my point. Now everyone get dressed and change into your winter gear on." Y/n heads back up to her bedroom to get dressed into warmer clothes. She knew it was going to be a daunting task to clear the driveway.
