*Ultima's POV*

After a few days of rest, Ultima had just started to recover from the incident of saving his mom from a falling tree. He sits up in bed and looks over at Vincent's sleeping form in the next bed over. "Luckily you can sleep," Ultima mumbles as he gets out of bed. Ultima had been fighting a bad case of insomnia because of the pain his body was in. He had told his mom about the pain that he was feeling was about the same pain he had felt the day that he had first turned human. He puts his bare feet on the floor, ignoring the fact at how cold the wood floor was to begin with. Pulling on a pair of blue jeans and a t-shirt, he leaves the bedroom and goes downstairs. He felt like he needed to just go outside and clear his mind. Right as he was about to reach the door handle of the front door he suddenly hears "Where do you think you are going, young man?" Ultima quickly turns around, hand on his heart, and sees it's his mom, Y/n. "Dont sneak up on me!" Ultima snaps.

"Don't try and go sneak out. If you need to talk about what's going on, just come wake me up instead of leaving the house, okay?" Y/n said with worry in her voice.

"You have no idea what is going on, mom."

Y/n tilts her head to the side as she looks at Ultima. "Care to try?" She grabs one of the winter coats off of the coat rack and hands it to Ultima. "We are going out for a walk. I know you think it won't help, but trust me I know it will." She grabs another coat off of the coat rack and puts it on. "Besides I have something to show you that you will never get to see back on the island." She opens the front door and heads outside.

Ultima follows and closes the door behind him. "So what's so special that you want to show me?"

"I can't tell you otherwise I could ruin it. Plus what I am going to show you, can not be described by words until you see it firsthand."

Ultima shakes his head and chuckles. "Makes me wonder why you put up with us even though we are not human." He listens to the snow crunch beneath his boots. "Until we get to where we are going, mind if I ask a few questions?"

"Like what?" Y/n asks.

"How about your childhood. Jade, Atlas, Vincent, Tidus, and I already know you work for InGen and stuff like that. But we hardly dont know anything about what you were like as a kid besides from the stories that grandma tells during dinner or the photos we see hanging up around the house."

*Y/n POV*

Y/n sighs. "Fine I'll play twenty questions with you. Alright I guess I can start from the beginning. First of all I was born and raised here in Minnesota. Had to deal with crazy winters from the very beginning but I like the fact it snows, even if it is a blizzard." She chuckles. "I like to explore as a kid, so to a sense I kinda had free reign of the forest around the house. Once I was old enough my dad taught me how to hunt and fish."

"Not like how I hunt down Apatosaurus back on the island, right?" Ultima steps over a large branch to avoid tripping over it. "So why did your father teach you then?"

"My father taught me to hunt with a bow and arrows, so no not like how you hunt Apatosaurus. He taught me to hunt so I could be able to take care of myself later on in life. My father even taught me what plants and berries are safe to eat as well as what mushrooms are safe to eat too. I still remember the day I had to hunt my first buck. Dad had to show me how to properly shoot with a bow and arrow. My first shot missed its mark and ended up getting lodged no where close to the kill mark. Kinda felt bad about it since we had to track the buck down because it ran off with the first arrow lodged in it." Y/n takes a deep breath to calm herself down to finish talking. It was hard for her to talk about her father. "To tell you the truth, I like to fish more than to hunt deer or ducks." Y/n ends up stumbling a bit over some rocks.

"What else did your dad teach you?" Ultima catches Y/n and helps her steady herself so she doesn't fall.

"He taught me to be polite from early on. Taught me to say 'Please' and 'Thank you' when I wanted something. But the main thing he taught me was to work hard towards my goals." Her voice starts to crack up a bit.

"Are you..."

Y/n waves her hand to Ultima in a shooing motion. "I'll be fine, okay? Just let me finish." She takes a another deep breath. "But all things must come to an end. I was about twelve years old when my dad was diagnosed with cancer. But it wasn't until later on that mom and I had figured out the cancer had spread to the rest of his body. He had lung cancer which had spread to his bones, heart, as well as his brain. It was very hard for me to accept the fact he was dying. So I did was I could to make sure he was happy towards the end. When his time came, he ended up passing away at the hospital he was staying at." Y/n wipes the tears from her eyes.

"It was because of him that you are the person who you are today. Your dad loved you very much even when he was sick." Ultima puts his hand on Y/n's shoulder and give a gentle squeeze. "But you have us as well as Issac in your life to make sure you are taken care of."

After walking about ten more minutes, Y/n and Ultima arrive in a clearing. Y/n stops him from going any further and points up to the sky.

*Ultima's POV*

Ultima couldn't believe what he was seeing. Colors danced across the night sky. He stands there in the cold and snow for what felt like an eternity before he finally speaks. "What is that?"

"That's the Aurora Borealis. It occurs when the magnetosphere is disturbed by solar wind."

Ultima continues to stare at the Aurora Borealis. "Now I remember. I read about them in one of the books you gave us to read while on the plane. I just didn't expect it to be this beautiful."

"Reading about the Aurora Borealis in a book or watching a video on it doesn't compare to actually being able to see it with your own eyes." Y/n waits until Ultima had his fill of watching the Aurora Borealis before she had to drag him home.
