The avengers kids

Chapter 5

A/N : this is a few days after Tony and Steve fought and after Tony threw away all of his alcohol. He is having a nightmare throughout this whole chapter .

Tony's POV -
IN A NIGHTMARE -( I was in my Ironman suit flying around the city doing a check for any trouble. All of a sudden Steve called me . " hey baby I'm doing my weekly rounds right now I'll be ho-" I stopped talking . I heard Steve crying " Steve baby what's wrong ? What happened ?" I asked terrified about what he was going to say. " It's Maddie and Peter they were -" Steve couldn't even finish his sentence. " I'm on my way Steve " I said flying as fast as I could back to the base . When I got there some parts of the base were blown up or on fire the other parts were slightly intact. I ran inside and went to mine and Steve's quarters but I couldn't find him . I looked out the half broken window to see Steve outside with the rest of the avengers . The other avengers look like statues . They are just standing there watching Steve even Bucky and Sam are standing there and not moving. I flew outside to them . I landed beside Thor and asked him why he was just standing there but he didn't answer he only stared at Steve who was crying and covered in blood. I then look down at Thor and he was bleeding from a stab wound . I look at all the avengers who were bloody and each one was shot in different spots or stabbed. They should be dead on the ground but that's when their eyes rolled to the back of their heads and they all fell to the ground . I was shocked , who could have done this to my team . I then look to Steve and I see that he is crying over two people who look too little to be shield agents. I can make out that one is a boy and one is a girl . I rush over to Steve and he was holding their hands . I don't recognize them so I asked Steve if he is ok or if he is hurt . He says nothing he just keeps crying and he eventually turns around and when I saw his face I broke . He looked as if he had been crying for hours . His face was red and his eyes were puffy . I hugged him but he didn't hug back . I knew that this was not my Steve . He loved hugs no matter how upset or mad he was . I looked to Steve and his eyes were blood red and he was crying blood . I backed away from him and looked to the other two people and I froze. It was two teenagers who looked like my kids . That's when it clicked . I was starring at my children who were brutally killed in a battle . They both had huge holes in their stomachs and blood all over their faces . Maddie was covered in giant scratches and a little bit of spider web on her face . Her eyes were open and her face held fear . I looked at peter and he had a huge hole in his stomach and around that was green slime . He had bruises all over his face and his left arm was ripped to shreds. Steve's shield was in between them and it was broken in half . " I tried to save them but I was too late " Steve said in a broken voice . " why did you leave us , you could have saved us all " Steve said then his eyes rolled to the back of his head and he fell into my arms . )- NIGHTMARE OVER
I woke up to Steve shaking me and screaming my name . I started crying and reached up to hug him . He hugged me back this time and I broke down in his arms . When I stopped crying he didn't let go of me he just held me against him and rubbed my back . " Are you ok now ?" Steve asked worried. " Yea I'm ok it was just a nightmare " I said in a shaky voice . " What was it about ?" Steve asked I just shook my head . I didn't and couldn't speak about it . " it's ok you don't have to tell me right now " Steve said . I was relieved that he wasn't forcing me to tell him right now but I need to tell him eventually. I finally calmed down and then we heard the twins crying . I looked at the clock and it was 6:30 am that's when the twins usually wake up to eat and get dressed for the day . " Alright lets go get them up and dressed then while they are eating we can talk about your nightmare " Steve said getting up and putting on some jeans . I just nodded my head and got up too but I just put on some basketball shorts . We walked to the twins room and they had stopped crying. We opened the door and Maddie was currently climbing out of her crib . She froze when we saw her and peter started to laugh . " Maddie what have I told you about climbing out of your crib young lady ?" Steve said in a stern voice . She just looked down and climbed back down into her crib . " sowwy papa " she said in a tiny sad voice . He went over to her and picked her up . " It's ok but stop doing that honey , you could fall and get hurt " Steve said gently. She just nodded her head and hugged his neck . I went to pick up peter and he was laughing because she got caught , but she was probably trying to get out to go get him out of his crib . Steve put Maddie in a little blue dress and black leggings. Since she had a lot of hair for a one year old Steve brushed it out  . I put peter in a little red T-shirt and his little blue jeans . I gave him his hair brush and he brushed his own hair because he doesn't like when we brush his hair . He had a lot of hair too but not as much as Maddie. When they were dressed we brushed their teeth and then carried them into the dining room. We sat them in their high chairs and I turned on the tv while Steve got their breakfast. I looked at them while they watched tv and it made that nightmare flash through my mind . I had to get up and leave the table . I went into the kitchen to talk to Steve about the nightmare. He was getting their cereal and their sippy cups with milk in them . I said " Steve I need to talk to you " . He said " what's wrong ?" . I said " it's about that nightmare I'm afraid of what it could mean " . He said " what happened in it ?" I told him what happened and he seemed shocked that it could be that vivid . "Tony it's ok that won't happen, I promise you that no matter what happens I will protect you and the twins from everything even if it will kill me " Steve said hugging me . " We both will protect the twins from anything and everything together and we will die together protecting them " I said . " Steve what are we gonna do if the twins try to join shield or the avengers one day ? I don't want them to put themselves in danger " I said . Steve said " Tony we can try to stop them from joining but I doubt they won't want to join . I don't want to stand in the way of their dreams " . I just nodded but I really didn't want to. I know the danger of our job and I don't want our children to take the same chances we do . I won't let them join and I'll make sure Fury doesn't let it happen.
