Chapter 7

A/N : The twins are now 2 and a half . I'm only skipping the years bc I can only think of so much to write ab for little kids .

Steve's POV-
I was getting ready to get in the shower when I heard a loud bang come from downstairs and then crying . I ran out of the bathroom and down the stairs to see Maddie crying and peter looking very guilty . She ran over to me once she saw me and I picked her up . " Peter Benjamin what happened ?" I said in a stern voice . He started to tear up and said " I dropped sissy " . I felt my stomach drop . Peter had recently been climbing on our ceiling and trying to pick up his sister with his new spider webs. I was hoping he would say he dropped her when he started to climb but nope my hope was shattered . " Peter Benjamin Stark-Rogers did you drop your sister from the ceiling?" I said getting very scared but angry . He didn't answer . " Answer me Peter " . He nodded his head and looked at Maddie . His eyes got big and I felt something cold on my hand . I moved my hand from Maddie's head and saw blood . Of course peter has to drop Maddie when Tony isn't here . I had Jarvis call Bruce while I grabbed a clean dish towel . I put it on Maddie's head and she started to sway in my arms . " Baby no look at me don't close your eyes okay focus on my voice honey "I said getting really scared . I rushed her over to Bruce's lab . He checked her head and said " Steve she's gonna need stitches. I don't think she had a concussion but I'm gonna stitch her head up then do a CT scan to make sure she doesn't have a concussion." . I said " Okay thank you so much Bruce . I'll be right back I gotta call Tony and tell him what happened" . He nodded and went over to Maddie who was happy to see him . I had to leave while he was numbing her head for the stitches so I could call Tony . " Hey honey I'm sorry I haven't called but good news I'm on my way home right now , I'll be landing in about an hour " he said . I said " That's good I'm happy your gonna be home soon but come to the hospital ward instead because that's where we are right now and I have a feeling we won't be leaving soon ". " What happened? Are you ok ? " he asked . I said " I'm ok , but the reason why we are here is because of peter trying to pick up Maddie while he was on the ceiling and he dropped her . So now we are in the hospital ward so she can get stitches and so we can make sure she doesn't have a concussion " . " Oh god ok I'll see if the pilots can speed it up a bit so I can get there . Is she ok at the moment?" He said . I looked back through the window in the door and saw she had stopped crying and was holding her Ironman teddy bear while Bruce was stitching her head up. " Yea she stopped crying and now Bruce is stitching her head up and she's holding her Ironman teddy bear . I didn't even realize she grabbed it before we left " I said . " Okay That's it I'm getting off this plane and I'll just call my Ironman suit to me and I can be there within 10 minutes . I'll see you soon tell her I'll be there in a couple minutes " he said . " Okay I will and be careful Tony " I said . " Love you bye see you in a few " he said . " Love you too see you in a few minutes " I said and hung up . I turned around and realized I left peter by himself at home . I called Sam really quick . " Hey Sam are you busy ?" I said . " Not at the moment me and Bucky just got done running , whatcha need ?" He said . Good peter loves hanging out with Bucky and Sam . " Great can you run over and watch peter for about an hour ? I left him back at our place when I brought Maddie to the hospital ward to get stitches " I said . " Yea Steve of course we can and tell Maddie Uncle Sam hopes she feels better after getting stitches " Sam said . " WHAT ? WHY IS MADDIE GETTING STITCHES ? THATS IT STEVE TELL MADDIE UNCLE BUCKY IS ON HIS WAY TO SEE HER !" Bucky yelled from away from the phone . It almost sounded like he was getting further from the phone on the last sentence. " Buck's on his way isn't he Sam ?" I asked . " Yep he's already running inside the front doors " he said . " Okay we'll please make sure Pete's okay and let me know if he is any trouble " I said . " Don't worry peter is usually really good for me I'll just pop in a movie and we will just nap " he said . That's good because it is their nap time so he should go down easy. " Okay it's his nap time anyways so he will go to sleep easy for you , Okay I gotta go now Bruce just started to stitch Maddie's head up and I need to go see if she is ok . I'll talk to you later Sam " I said . " okay bye " he said . I turned around and went back into the room Maddie was in and she had little tears dried on her face . I felt so bad because I should have made sure they were okay and safe before I went to take a shower . " hey sweetheart it's ok you'll be as good as new once uncle Bruce fixes you up " I said hopefully keeping her calm . She smiles at me and reaches her hand out for me to hold . After Bruce finished stitching her head up the door flew open . Tony was standing there smiling at Maddie and Bucky was slightly panting because he ran over here . He walked over to me and kissed me on the lips . I kissed back and we pulled away . " Hi Daddy ! I'm glad your home " Maddie said ecstatic to see Tony . He had been gone for 2 weeks doing business meetings with the people at shield headquarters in Washington DC . He hugged her and she hugged him tight . " Sorry for being gone for so long baby but don't worry I don't have to go do any of the work I did for a long time " he said cheering her up . " Okay Guys Sorry to break up the family moment but Maddie I need you to lay down on this pillow but be careful with your stitches " Bruce said . I picked her up and laid her down carefully so she wouldn't hurt her stitches . " okay now you guys go wait in the hall so I can do all the ct scans " Bruce said . We went outside and Tony looked worried . " Steve where is peter ?" He said . I said " Sam is taking care of him right now at our place " .  Bucky looked like he was deep in thought but then he said " How far did Maddie fall ?" Buck said .  " I don't know I was getting in the shower and I heard a thud then screaming so I ran to get whichever kid was screaming and then we came here " I said . " I'll have Jarvis pull up the footage from the living room " Tony said . He pulled out his phone and had Jarvis pull up the video . Peter was on the highest point on the ceiling and shot out his web to grab Maddie . He pulled her almost all the way up before she fell . The weird thing was she knew to shield her body before she hit the ground so it would lessen the impact . She had fallen from at least 25 feet in the air and only had to get 12 stitches on her head because she shielded herself from the fall . " Steve you saw that too right ? " Tony said stunned . " Yea but where did she learn to do that ?" I said . " maybe she is watching training videos in daycare or something like that but I swear I didn't teach her that " Tony said . " Your kid just fell from 25 feet and only has a few stitches. She must have some sort of super power to know what to do and how to make the pain of falling lessened at age 2 " buck said . " She only has some serum in her not much but she is smart like Tony so that must be it " I said hoping she doesn't have a power that we don't know about . " Well believe what you want Steve but as your best friend I'm telling you that kid has superpowers and I'm willing to bet she isn't gonna just let this go . She's gonna try to test her new abiliti- " Bucky was cut off by a little voice . " Papa ! Daddy ! I'm all better " Maddie said running over to us . Tony picked her up . " That's good sweetie I'm glad your okay " Tony said . Bruce looked shocked and it only made me even more uneasy . " What's wrong Bruce ?" I said . " She has no concussion and no broken bones not even a chipped bone . Her stitches are already healing fast so I'll take them out in about 4 days but other than that she is the picture of perfect health " Bruce said . Okay now I'm worried . She should at least have a fracture. Maybe Bucky is right , maybe she does have a superpower that we don't know about .  I look at Tony and he looked uneasy too . Bucky just smirked at us . " Uncle Bucky why are you here ?" Maddie said . " I'm here to see you sweetpea " buck said . She got down from Tony's hold and walked over to Bucky so he could pick her up . While Bucky was playing with Maddie looked at Tony and mouthed to him ' We need to talk later ' . He nodded back and we looked back at Maddie who was giggling while Bucky was tickling her . I smiled but I was worried . We walked back to our place after thanking Bruce and Maddie getting her head wrapped up so she wouldn't rip the stitches. When we got to the elevator we heard yelling and gun shots . I panicked and rushed into the elevator . When we got out of the elevator I saw what was going on and I calmed down . Peter and Sam were watching one of my old war movies on almost full volume. Peter had a little toy gun and a toy helmet and Sam was on the ground playing dead . " Look Papa I shot him I won the war !" Peter yelled at me and ran over for me to pick him up . " Yea buddy you sure did good job soldier " I said to him and he smiled big up at me . It was too cute that I forgot he was in trouble for dropping his sister. "Sorry Steve he really wanted to play soldiers and I just couldn't say no to him " Sam said . " It's ok Sam but you didn't tell him anything about her situation right ?" I said . " Nope I left all that parenting stuff for you and Tony " he said . " Well we need to have a little family meeting guys so we'll see you tomorrow in the meeting , thank you for helping out today " Tony said . " No problem we love these two so anytime you need us just call us and we will be there " Bucky said . " See you tomorrow guys " they said walking out . Now it's time for a fun talk with a grumpy 2 year old . Could this day get any better .
