I was unusually happy for the rest of the day. Harry and I walked out of the restaurant after lunch and started back to our car.

“So where to now?” I asked entwining my fingers in Harry’s.

“Where do you want to go?” he asked.

“Well,” I said counting on my fingers, “I want to go to France and England and Ireland and Italy and…”

“Well we will go there, just not today,” he said with a smile.

            “I know,” I said.

“Let’s go for a drive,” Harry suggested. I smiled and nodded as we approached our car. I hopped into the passenger’s seat and Harry walked around to the driver’s seat. He started the car and drove down the street. I had no idea where we were going, but I really didn’t care.

“You know, I’m in a very good mood today,” I said smiling and looking out my window, but back at Harry.

He laughed, “Oh really, love? Well I am too.”

            “I wonder why…?” I said with a smile.

“We both know why Maya,” Harry said trying not to smile and looking at the road in front of us.

“Yeah…” I said still smiling, but not realizing it. My thoughts wandered off and before I knew it, I was thinking about Tate. I knew it was wrong since I was with Harry, but I couldn’t help it. He was different than he was back in high school. I don’t really know how, but he was. There was something about his bright blue eyes… his light brown tousled hair…

“What are you thinking about?” Harry asked smiling at me.

He knocked me out of my thoughts and back to reality. Thank god.

“Nothing,” I replied looking through the windshield.

“Yes you are, tell me,” Harry said taking my left hand in his.

I sighed and hesitated. I didn’t want to ask him, but I knew I’d have to eventually. “Harry, why don’t you like Tate?”

He paused and looked at the road in front of him intently, “it’s not that I don’t like him…”

“Harry, you don’t like him. Admit it. I just want to know why.”

            “Maya…”

“Please Harry, I need to know,” I said.

“Maya he still likes you. I don’t understand why you can’t see it, but he really does. And you’re my wife…”

“But Harry, I only love you, you know that,” I told him.

“I know Maya, but I don’t want him to get too close to you and then one day when I’m not home…”

“Harry! You’d think I’d let Tate try anything on me?!”

“Maya, I’m just thinking of all the possibilities that could happen between you two. I mean, he was in love with you at one point too.”

“He wasn’t in love with me,” I said flatly.

“Maya, do you not see the way he looks at you?”

“I do Harry, but we’re only friends.”

“He wants it to be more and that’s why I have a problem with him.”

            “But Harry…”

“I’m done talking about this Maya,” he said. I knew to stop talking. He was in one of his moods again. I had to let him be. I waited quietly in the passenger’s seat for a while before Harry broke the silence.

“Let’s go home,” he said turning down a street and heading back in what I assumed was the direction of our house.

“Okay,” I said quietly. I swallowed and looked out my window. Harry took my left hand in his again and kissed my knuckles.

“I love you Maya,” he said quietly.

            I smiled, “I love you too…”
