MADELINE’S P.O.V.

I was sitting on the couch when I heard the front door to Louis’s apartment open and then close a second after. I smiled, knowing he was home, and walked over to go greet him. His bright blue eyes twinkled when I walked over to him, a smile spreading across his face.

“Why hello there, lovely,” Louis said, putting his arms out and pulling me into a hug.

I pushed my nose gently into his collarbone, the smell of his cologne enticing me, “Hey…”

“How have you been this lovely afternoon?” he asked, pulling away and pecking me on my lips, “Surely you haven’t been sitting around the apartment doing nothing, right?”

I sighed and shook my head, “No I haven’t… and I’ve been alright… I missed you, where have you been?”

“I had to stop by Harry’s house to ask him a question,” Lou replied, taking my hand and pulling me into the kitchen.

            “Oh… what about?”

He turned and smiled at me, “It’s nothing important, love.”

I exhaled again, not wanting to push him for an answer. I just nodded and looked at the floor, rocking back and forth on the balls and heels of my feet. Louis noticed and tilted my head up towards his, “But I’m here for the rest of the evening and we can do whatever you’d like.”

I smiled, “Does that include cuddling on the couch?”

“Of course it does,” he whispered, pecking my lips and taking my hand in his again as he led me into the living room.

A couple hours later, we were finished with dinner and were about to go into our bedroom to watch TV there. Louis had seemed somewhat distant these past few days and I didn’t know why. Was it something I did? Was he getting tired of me? I was getting nervous and wanted to know if someone else knew what was going on.

“Hey, I’m gonna call Maya, real quick, I’ll be right there,” I told Louis before he stepped into his bedroom.

“Okay love, don’t take too long,” he winked at me and kissed me again.

I smiled, loving the way he would kiss me out of nowhere. I walked back into the kitchen and grabbed my cell phone from my purse. I scrolled through my contacts and stopped at Maya’s name before pressing down on the call button. I pressed my phone to my ear and paced around the kitchen while I waited for her to pick up.

“Hello?” my cousin said on the other end of the call.

“Hey Maya, it’s me,” I replied, relieved that she’d picked up her phone.
