MAYA’S P.O.V.

My eyelids were heavy the next morning when I woke up curled into Harry’s bare chest. I pulled away and Harry shifted in his sleep, turning over and closing his eyes again. I rolled out of bed and stretched my arms out and let out a big yawn. I soundlessly walked into the bathroom and brushed my teeth real quick before I left to go downstairs.

I wiped my eyes again when I reached the stairs. They stung a little bit still, but I’ve grown used to that. I walked into the kitchen where Anne and Gemma were making breakfast again.

“Good morning lovely,” Anne smiled at me as I walked in. She put down her wooden spoon and gave me a hug and a kiss on my cheek. “How are you feeling?” She pulled some hair out of my face and smiled warmly at me.

            I shrugged, “Alright I guess…”

            “You’re sure?”

I nodded and stepped back, blinking a couple times before I walked to go get my mug from the cabinet. Gemma poured me some coffee and I mumbled a thanks. I fixed my drink and sat quietly at the island, sipping it slowly. I wanted Harry to come downstairs and give me a hug and my good morning kiss.

I played with my fingers on the counter and I noticed Gemma and Anne exchanging glances at each other.

“Maya are you hungry for anything?” Anne asked nicely.

I shook my head, “No thanks…”

            “Are you sure?” Gemma asked.

            I nodded, “Yes.”

They looked at each other again and decided to leave it at that. It’s not that I didn’t want to talk to them; I did, it was just hard for me to act as if nothing happened last night.

I brushed some hair out of my face and took another sip of my coffee. The entire kitchen was silent except for the sizzling of eggs on the stove.

A couple silent minutes later, Harry walked down the stairs and joined us in the kitchen. He gave his mother and sister a kiss on the cheek and looked at me. I was still playing with my fingers and tracing the brim of the coffee mug with my index finger.

He walked up to my side, but I didn’t look at him, “Come into the family room with me,” he whispered in my ear. He picked up my coffee mug and walked into the family room and sat down on the couch. I followed and sat down next to him. He set my mug on the side table and I looked down at my lap. He noticed this and pulled me into his lap so that my back was to the kitchen.

“Why are you so upset?” he whispered to me.

            I shrugged.

            “Come on love, tell me…”

I stared at my knees, my mouth closed. I sniffled. Harry pulled some hair behind my ear and turned my face to look at him.
