MAYA’S P.O.V.

My eyes slowly opened and I blinked. The room was dark, but there were lights to my left. My eyes felt puffy and I wiped them with the sides of my hands. I sat up and looked around. Harry was sitting with his back towards me at the counter. I wanted to get up, but in another way I didn’t. He was still mad at me. I didn’t want him getting even madder at me by me getting up to go see him. I swallowed and played with my fingers and looked around the room, not daring to move from my spot.

Finally, after a couple minutes, Harry turned around and saw me awake. He smiled and walked over to sit down next to me. He leaned in and I just looked at him. Was he trying to kiss me? I thought he was mad at me…

I took my chance and leaned in also. Our lips met and he smiled into a kiss. It’d been a while since he kissed me like this. A whole week. He pulled away and kissed me softly a couple more times. I was thoroughly confused. Wasn’t he still mad at me?

He pulled away and smiled, “Can I make you dinner, lovely?” He ran his fingers through my hair softly while still looking into my eyes.

I only stared at him. He smiled and kissed my forehead as he stood up. I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came out.

“Are you okay?” Harry asked me. His fingers brushed some hair from my forehead my behind my ear and twirled it in his fingers.

I blinked and looked at the floor. Harry came to sit on the coffee table in front of me. I swallowed and looked into the green eyes in front of me.

“Are…” I was stuttering again. I looked to my side, “Do you… Um…”

“Maya, I need you to promise me something.”

I looked into his eyes and silently asked him what.

            “Never, ever leave me again.”

            I shook my head, “Never.”

“Okay,” Harry said softly. He put his hand on my cheek and leaned in to kiss me, “Now come, I’ll make you dinner.”

I sat at the counter and watched as my husband stood at the stove making dinner. I stayed quiet as he talked to me about the new job he was looking for.

“Maya?” he asked and I looked up from the counter. “Are you listening?”

I bit my lip and looked back down, not saying anything. He could tell I was hurting inside. He walked over and stood next to my chair. He was so much taller than I was, so he sat in the seat next to me.

“Look,” he said taking my left hand. I didn’t look at him, “I know you’re sorry. And you might think I’m still mad at you, but you know that’s impossible for me to do. I love you too much to stay mad at you. Sure, what you did wasn’t okay, but that was the past.”

I bit my lip harder, somewhat wanting to draw blood. I closed my eyes.

“And I know how sorry you are Maya…”
