Chapter 14

I am supposed to be happy,
on the brink of something new,
exciting and life changing,
a moment of unprecedented magnitude;

but here i am sulking,
sad, angry and confused,
it’s as if happiness and sadness
are waging a pitched battle in my mind;
i sat watching, numb, cold and powerless,
as my spirit tried desperately to broker peace,
i feel like i am trapped,
stuck in the middle;

scared inside, the pain refuses to let go,
as my world comes crashing down from within,
i try desperately to claw my way back in,
for one more attempt at life;

a life that has all promises,
a life that is mine to live,
and a life that is meant to happy,
and joyous;

i do not know how, i tried to know why,
but the more i tried, the deeper i plunged
into this war within myself;

Chapter 14

"I think we can stop here for today,"  the lecturer Mr. Fahad signed off and swiftly exited the class ignoring the hands that had been lifted once again, i don't know why we still bothered.

I had adapted to wearing slightly loose tops even though Anna had assured me i hardly looked pregnant. I am a few weeks along but i can feel the small bump that has formed on the lower side of my belly and its unsettling.

I walked out of the school building and once again spotted Gavin's car in the parking lot and made my way towards it.

"Why do i feel like i am on suicide watch?" I asked, as soon as i got in.

"Well love, because you are and i happen to love you too much to let you kill yourself," Gavin said, waking up from his nap.

"Don't your classes end the same time as mine? How are you always here before me?" I probed again, as he started the ignition.

"That's for me to know and you to think about every night before you go to sleep,"  he remarked and i rolled my eyes and sunk in his leather seats and started dozing.

Gavin clicked his fingers in front of my face, "None of that, i know you're pregnant but you always drool in my car and i don't think i can stomach cleaning it again"

"You don't clean your car Gavin," i said, rolling to the other side.

"I am speaking on behalf of Carlos," He says, turning at a red light.

"Carla,she's a she Gavin and her name is Carla."

"Yeah her too," He said, trying to mask his mistake and i slightly chuckle. I knew he knew she was Carla but he liked pretending he didn't care about the help.

"Finally," he sighs when we turn to my apartment building and he stops the car, "Get out and do not come back again!"

I exit the car, "So see you tomorrow?," i raise an eyebrow, daring him to protest, he just smiles smugly.

"8:30 babe, I'll be here" he says and i slam my door before waving at his retreating car.

I slightly open the door to my apartment and i am instantly met with a hyper Anna who seemed surprisingly sober.

"Oh hey," she says, like she wasn't waiting for me to arrive,"I made snacks"

"You made snacks?" I raise my eyebrows, brushing past her to leave my stuff.

"Okay i bought snacks, that's basically the same thing," she retorts, heading back to our kitchen with me following her.

"Right," i say rolling my eyes halfway before bringing them back because they hurt, I've been rolling my eyes too often nowadays.

"So, how was your day?" She asks, biting into a KitKat stick before i stole it and and ate it.

"How was yours?" I ask back, raising my eyebrows.

"Mine was good, how are you feeling?" She says, placing the back of her hand on my forehead, "Should I get you some water?"

"Oh my gosh!" I exclaim, swatting her hand away, "Can everyone stop treating me like a baby and just-"

My phone started ringing and i quickly answered it without checking the ID.

"Hello my apple gumdrop, have you settled in? Had a snack and-" Gavin, who had just left five minutes ago was now checking to see if i had taken too many pills and died.

"See this is what i mean!" I exclaim, exasperated putting him on loud speaker, "I am fine, at least i was until you two thought i wasn't."

I hung up on Gavin and started walking to my bedroom.

"You need to calm down, stress is not good for the -"

"If you say baby, i will sucker punch you Anna, try me," I said while gritting my teeth.

Before i could enter my room my phone started ringing again, irritated, i answered.

"What?! Leave me alone Gavin!" I practically yell at him.

"Uh Blaire? Its Sebastian," he coughs nervously, "I was wondering if we could have dinner, to discuss the um baby?"

Hell, take me now.
