Hushed winds blew over the green fields of the Shire, grazing soft petals with its cold breath and whispering goodnight to all its inhabitants. What was a bright and cloudless day had seamlessly rolled into a purple sunset, and after a tiresome day of helping around the village you were more than ready to turn in. Once you stepped into your little hole in the ground, you felt your energy dissipate. How you had once fought a dragon, you have no idea- that was a stranger period in your life, one which led you to meet the most wonderful hobbit...

Bilbo was embarking on this unexpected journey when you stumbled upon his company being terrorised by mountain trolls. At first, you entertained the idea of just leaving them- you may have been from the same place but you didn't know Bilbo, you didn't owe him anything. In reality you were only out of the Shire to run an errand for an old friend of yours, a wizard who needed a message to be sent to Lothlorien, though you hadn't seen him since. But seeing a fellow hobbit and his friends in such trouble distressed you, and you heard the hideous trolls arguing over how they were going to cook them up and eat them! Trolls were not clever creatures but they sure had an appetite. So you had to help them. Now, you weren't strong and you didn't know how to fight. However, you could cause enough of a distraction to get the company away from those brainless beasts. You discarded your backpack behind a bush and readied yourself. You could hear them bickering and caught ear of their names, Tom, Bert and Bill. Putting on as much false confidence as you could, you ambled into the campsite of the trolls, waiting for them to notice you. Bert spied you first letting out a shriek of fear. The others turned to you and glared, weighing up the situation. You just roamed around, not glancing at them, picking at your nails distractedly. Tom then shouted "Oi, you! What you doing here?" You raised an eyebrow at him and replied nonchalantly "Ahh, I thought I could smell dwarf around here. Mind if I join, gentlemen?" The trolls growled at you, one huffed "What would you be wanting with dwarf, ay?" Another chimed "You're too small to eat 'em!" You laughed melodically "Well, an ordinary hobbit would be, yes. But me? I'm what they call wolfish..." As you spoke you wandered around, getting closer to Bert (who seemed to be slightly ditzier than the others) "See I'll eat almost anything!" You slipped behind Bert, disappearing for a second. "Horse... Dwarf..." You scaled up a tree with ease and climbed across a branch, perching right in front of Bert's face and grinned hungrily "Even troll." Bert jumped back in fear, stepping into the fire pit they had been crouched around. He howled in pain, screaming "It's a wolfish! It's gonna eat us!!", as he blundered around, destroying the camp. Tom and Bill roared angrily at Bert, shouting at him and losing their sights of you. You slipped back down to the ground and cut the horses free. Then as you moved to get the group out, a giant hand swiped you out of the air. You hit a tree and the last thing you saw was a figure in the distance, upon a rock, the blinding light, before absolute darkness.

You awoke to a group of curious looking faces staring down at you. When you opened your eyes they began whispering and they scattered like mice. All except one, who offered you his hand. He looked down at you, a strange sparkle in his eye, he almost seemed impressed.Grunting as you stood up, you peered at the people around you and realised it was the group you had been trying to set free. Looking around, you realised the trolls had been turned to stone! You marvelled at the transformed beings, stuck for eternity as mere shells of what they were. A familiar voice welcomed you, the person you had been running an errand for. Gandalf the Grey, an old family friend. When he approached you, one of the younger looking dwarves cried "Be careful Gandalf, it's a wolfish! She wanted to eat us!" Gandalf cast a sideways glance at you, smiling. He introduced you to the group, and once he explained that you were there to help them, they thanked you profusely. You all decided it would be best to share a meal, and get to know one another. After a peaceful dinner, full of great storied and laughter, Gandalf proposed you accompany the group on their quest, as you could be of great help to them. Most of them eagerly agreed, seeming to enjoy the company of a female and wanting to show their gratitude. Others, like Thorin, were not so keen. But at Gandalf's recommendation, they agreed. Something deep inside you told you that you just couldn't say no to this opportunity. So off you went. Along the the way you befriended each dwarf and learned to love them as family, as they did with you; in all honesty, you'd never felt like you belonged anywhere until you met them. You had always been a strange hobbit, not quite content with sitting around in the Shire. And then there was Bilbo. Well, Bilbo was a highly-strung, little hobbit. At first you weren't sure you would get along. You yearned for an adventure, he yearned for a handkerchief. But what you learned along the way was that he was also brave and smart and loving, he was everything you wanted, and everything you wanted to be. Together you were courageous. The two of you grew stronger together, trusted each other and sometimes hurt each other. Though, in the end, you couldn't be without one another. When the time came that the quest was over, you knew you'd miss each other terribly, after spending so long together, being by each other's sides. Well it would just be wrong to abandon each other like that. You'd never understood the phrase "part in such sweet sorrow" until you came to say goodbye to those who grew to be your family. It was so unbearable in fact, Bilbo asked if you would stay with him, forever. You were dumbstruck, silent. You made him think he was a fool. In reality, It was just a bit out of the blue. After overcoming your shock, you were overjoyed, so much so that you couldn't help but jump into his arms and kiss him. Your heart soared, you were on top of the world and you both knew that this was the start of a very happy time in your lives.

A quiet voice laced with sleep coaxed you out of your trance "What are you thinking about?" Blinking, you pulled yourself from your daze and smiled up at Bilbo, whose arms you snuggled in while you were both curled up on an armchair which was being perfectly warmed by the fire. The entrancing flames cast long shadows down dark hallways and crackled comfortingly in the background. You replied to Bilbo's inquiry with a question of your own "Will we ever go back there? To the mountain?" Bilbo sighed and you felt his chest rise and fall steadily. "I'm sure we could one day. Do you not like it here anymore?" You frowned at him for being so daft "Of course I do! How could I not? I'm with the hobbit I love, I'm safe, I'm happy." A yawn escaped your lips at the end of your sentence which made Bilbo chuckle. "I'm just making sure. You know, I'm happy too." You yawned again and mumbled what sounded like "That's good, let's just stay here." But Bilbo wasn't sure because you had closed your eyes and buried your face in his chest before you finished speaking. Letting his his hand wander across your check, he brushed a hair out of your face and smiled. Your hands snaked around his torso, clinging on tightly as though he might disappear. For a while, Bilbo sat comfortably, letting you rest after working hard, but he noticed as you were falling asleep, your arms tightened around him. His eyebrows drew together and he felt your arms continue to squeeze him. You were unaware of how forcefully you were gripping him. Your were so cozy, you just wanted to squish him like a big ol' bear. Bilbo's eyes widened the longer you held on. When you shifted around, he felt a jabbing pain somewhere down where he really didn't like it and he let out a few strangled coughs, trying not to disturb you. For a small creature, you really were strong. Feeling his chest grow tired, he tried to wriggle around to find a more comfortable place, feeling claustrophobic from the restriction. With one more little squeeze from you, he yelped out. Your eyes shot open out of panic and you slipped, landing on the floor with an ungraceful thud as Bilbo leapt out of the chair, holding his chest and breathing deeply. 'Jeez, what was that for?" You gasped. Bilbo's face was red from lack of oxygen and he heaved as he replied "Were you trying to kill me?! You were crushing me Y/N!" You were silent, feeling awful. At your shocked expression, Bilbo realised you actually didn't know you were doing it... His expression softened and he stepped closer to you. Taking your hand, he showed you a glimpse of a smile on his face, which made you giggle. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you." You said, embarrassed. Bilbo tutted and pulled you into a hug "I know. Come on, let's go to bed." You nodded in agreement and let him lead you away, still holding your hand. " I'll try not to suffocate you this time." You promised, causing the both of you to laugh.

Hey guys! So I know this one was pretty short but it's quite a sweet little concept that Oh-My-Fudgesicle requested- I really hope you enjoyed it and thank you for the idea! I know things have been slow recently with the updates but in my defence, I've been working on a show and these last few months have been hectic, I've been exhausted. Last night was the final show and it was amazing, but now I can focus more on writing again! Anyway, if you guys have any requests, I'd love to hear some ideas for whichever characters you want to read about!

My question this time is: What kind of music do you guys like? What's your favourite song? - Drop a recommendation in the comments and I'll make a playlist to listen to when I'm writing! <3 You're all so awesome, I hope you're doing well and I'll see you next time!
