Chapter 9

Barely a minute had gone by before Daryl began looking for Merle.

"Merle! Merle! Get your ass out here! Got us some dinner," Daryl said as he put down the food before continuing to look for Merle.

"Daryl. You slow up a bit, I need to talk to you," Shane said.

"About what?" Daryl asked as he stopped walking.

"About Merle. There's a problem in Atlanta," Shane said.

Daryl went quiet for a moment as he looked at us before saying...

"He dead?" Daryl asked.

"I'm not sure," Shane answered.

"He either is or he ain't," Daryl said, beginning to raise his voice.

"No easy way to say this so I'll just say it," Rick said.

"Who are you?" Daryl asked.

"Rick Grimes," Rick answered.

"Rick Grimes, you got something you wanna tell me?" Daryl asked.

"Your brother was a danger to us all. So I handcuffed him to a roof, hooked him on a piece of metal. He's still there," Rick said.

"Oh, let me process this. So you handcuffed my brother to a roof and you left him there!" Daryl yelled.

"Yeah," Rick said.

All of a sudden, Daryl ran over to attack Rick before Shane knocked him down. Once he did this, Daryl got a knife out and attacked Rick. However, Shane got a hold of him and stopped Daryl from hurting Rick.

"You best let me go!" Daryl yelled.

"Nah, I think it's better if I don't," Shane said.

After some time of Shane hold him, Daryl began to calm down before Rick walked over to Daryl and said...

"I'd like to have a calm discussion on this topic. You think we can manage that? You think we can manage that?" Rick repeated before Shane let Daryl go.

Once Daryl was on the ground, Rick crouched down before talking with Daryl...

"What I did was not on a whim. Your brother does not work and play well with others," Rick said.

"It's not Rick's fault," T-Dog said finally.

Daryl and Rick immediately looked over to him before he said...

"I had the key, I dropped it," T-Dog said.

"You couldn't pick it up?" Daryl questioned.

"Well I dropped it in a drain," T-Dog said.

Daryl began to look down at the ground before he got up and said...

"If it's supposed to make me feel better, it don't," Daryl said.

"Maybe this will, I chained the door to the roof so the geeks couldn't get at him with a padlock," T-Dog said.

"That's got to count for something," Rick said.

Daryl began to cry a little before wiping it away to show that he was not weak.

"Hell with all of y'all. Just tell me where he is so I can go get him," Daryl said.

"He'll show you. Isn't that right?" Lori asked.

"I'm going back," Rick said.

"I'll go as well," I said, surprising the others a little bit.

"Skye, you sure? Walkers are not like criminals. It won't be that easy to-" Rick said before I interrupted him.

"Here, take this," I said, handing him an apple.

"What's this for?" Rick asked.

"You remember I have good aim and never miss a target?" I asked.

"Yeah," Rick answered.

"Well, place the apple on your head," I said.

"Skye, I don't this is a good idea," Lori said.

"Just trust me," I said to her.

I then put my attention back on Rick before saying...

"Do it," I said.

I watched as he placed the apple on his head before I got my bow and arrow out. I stood there for a moment, watching my target before I finally released the arrow and watched as it shot the apple. Rick then took the apple off his head before people began to clap at my skills.

"Thank you," I said to the applause before Rick handed me my arrow.

"She's going," Daryl said.

"What can I say?, I have good aim," I said.

After saying this, Daryl and Rick began to get ready while I walked over to Alicia, to make sure she was okay with me leaving...
