Author's Note: I thought it would be fun to include things from Nailah's perspective for just a little bit. Let's see how the princess is feeling mom's new assistant later on in the chapter. Enjoy! 💜

Nikolai's POV

January was coming to an end and the new year was in full force. Prince had officially started the first full leg of the Welcome 2 America Tour, completing his first show in New York at Madison Square Garden. With both of our schedules filled to capacity, we still made it our obligation to communicate, no matter how busy things became.

"Mademoiselle how is everything going?"

"Hold on Brett." I placed the phone on speaker. "I need my hands free, sewing fabrics here. Now what you say?"

"I asked how is everything going?"

"Everything is... just fine."

"So why am I sensing hesitance? And don't try to cover it up girlfriend, I know you."

"Well..." I glanced up at the door just in case. "Liam does his job—"

"My job."

Catching me off guard, I snorted. "Yes Brett your job, he does it well. He's adjusting just fine but.."

"But what?" He asked.

"Hubby doesn't like him."

Brett cackled. "Am I wrong if I say I'm not surprised? We all know how Prince is when it comes to you and he ain't afraid to show or tell nobody either."

"Yeah that's definitely the truth. It's been little incidents that have rubbed him the wrong way, so he thinks Liam has a thing for me."

"Well what do you think about him?"

"About him? I don't. I mean besides our work relationship, it's nothing there, and it won't ever be. I was trying to link him with Clarice but he's totally into some chick, so I can forget that."

"I hear you." Brett assured. "But keep your eye on him and never let your guard down. If he gets too comfortable then... I mean we don't want to see Prince in prison now do we?"

I laughed. "No. He's too pretty for prison."

"Exactly. Don't make Mr. Nelson hurt nobody."

"I promise! I promise I won't. But enough about all of this craziness. Are you good?"

With a quick sigh, he replied a simple "Yes."

"And your father?"

"Some days are fair, some are bad, but some are also really good. We stay positive despite what we know, just to keep him in good spirits."

"Personally I think that is the best thing you all can do, and God always has the last say."

Peering over at the door, I watched as Nailah walked in.

"Hey B, let me call you back okay? Nailah's here."

"Sure thing, take care Mademoiselle."

"You too buddy, bye."

Easing her backpack off, Nailah smiled before taking a gulp of her soda.

"Hey sweetie, how was school?"

"Ugh. Super bleak. I've never craved summer break so bad in my life."
