Chapter 18 - The Fake Author

When you opened your eyes again, you were in a different location. From your surroundings, you can only tell that you're in an underground cave.

"Thank you Bill." You thought in your mind. You didn't know if Bill can hear it or not but you did so anyway.

You started to walk along the cave, trying to listen to any sounds made by the group.

Just like that you hear a conversation, you speed towards the sound and heard it.

"I apologise for the state of things, I don't get many non-mold people visitors. Now that beast must have some weakness that we can exploit, I use to have my research on him but alas I lost my journals so much years ago." You heard a voice of an old man.

"Did you say journals?" you recognize Wendy's voice asking someone, but it sounded more like a statement.

"Dude, I found one of them! That's how I track you down here." A cheerful girlish voice who belongs to Dipper said.

"No! Don't you dare take that journal out!" you warned in your mind, hoping Dipper doesn't do just that. You ran quicker and finally see three figure in view.

"Dipper! Don't you dare give him that journal!" you shouted a warning.

You see Dipper jump from your warning and so did the other two figure. "What? (Y/N)? Why? He's the author." Dipper asked and showed you the man beside him.

You ran and stood in between them, making some distance from the man and the three of you. Wendy was just sitting on the ground while doing something.

"He is not the author." You stated coldly and glared at him. Your left hand was blocking Dipper from getting to the man while your right hand was reaching for your hidden weapons. "He's the shapeshifter."

"What? No he isn't!" Dipper yelled back and tried to run to the man but your hand was stronger. "He's the one who is hunting the shapeshifter."

Then you heard a gasp from behind and Wendy stood beside Dipper, "I think you should listen to (Y/N)..."

"What? You were fine with him just a few moments ago." Dipper said. You didn't take your eyes off of the man.

"Yeah, dude. Sorry, but that was before and this is now." Then there was a slight pause. "Dipper look." You guessed Wendy showed him something to help prove her point.

"Um... You know what, I think we should probably get going." Dipper nervously said, it did take you as a surprise but you didn't show it.

The man's eyes blinked sideways, then his neck grew longer. "You're not going anywhere!" he crawled onto the walls of the cave, his eyes growing white and some insert legs growing out of his body.

Wendy and Dipper screamed from the scene before them, it is shocking you had to admit but you've seen worse so you kept your calm blank face.

The shapeshifter then changed form, now it has six legs, one skinny arm the other was fat, reddish eyes, a mouth showing two pairs of fangs and four teeth. "How do you like my true form?" it asks with pride. "Go on, admit it. You like it."

"That part was a little bit like Bill..." you thought with an unamused look, and an image of Bill flash in your mind.

"To be honest, it's hideous." You stated without an emotion or feeling.

"You! What did you do to the real author!" Dipper shouted and pointed at the thing.

"You'll likely never find him. That six-fingered nerd hasn't been himself for 30 years." The creature said laughing.
