Warnings: none, just a shy toddy.

Requested by: livyloo8910

My dad has never been super overprotective of me. Of course, he was a little on the fence when I started dating in high school, but he wasn't the 'Break my daughter's heart and I'll break your face' type of dad.

That said, he was relatively ok with most of the guys I ended up dating. But I'm not sure he'd be ok with the guy I was currently interested in.

Being 23, my dad can't exactly tell me I'm "not allowed" to date certain people. Though I'm sure if he knew I liked Toddy the first thing out of his mouth would be 'no'.

"Hey Y/N." I was brought out of my thoughts, my eyes finding Toddy on the other sofa.

"Oh, hey!" I felt a blush immediately begin to spread across my cheeks, a shy smile on my face.

"I was wondering if you-" His sentence came to an abrupt stop when my dad walked through the front door.

"Hey guys. What're you up to?" My dad's eyes found mine, a questioning look on his face.

"Hi Jason, nothing much. I was just about to ask Y/N if she would help me with a bit for a video." He turned his attention from me to my dad, an embarrassed, yet almost annoyed, look on his face.

I wonder what he actually was going to say?

"Oh okay. Well, if you need me for it too, I'll be in the back. David said something about wine bottles and vlogging." My dad shook his head, a confused, yet somehow already disappointed, look on his face.

The moment he was out of the surrounding vicinity, I continued my conversation with Toddy.

"If you actually need me for a video, I'm happy to help! What am I doing?" We spent the next twenty minutes talking about his skit and changing some things. And Toddy having to repeat things every now and then since I kept distracted by his smile. It was so cute.

"Ok, so basically I literally just need to pop up from behind the sofa and pretend to strangle David?" I couldn't help but laugh, my part being ironic as I have about as much strength as Alex's bunny.

"Yep. Thanks for agreeing to help." He gave me a one arm hug, getting up from his spot next to me. We had ended up moving closer while he was explaining his video idea. His cologne was like a fucking spell, entrancing me everytime he walked into a room. And wow, that goddamned smile was just so beautiful.

"I'll see you later, right?" I was once again snapped out of my thoughts by him, my head turning to see him on his way out of the house.

I nodded my head, a stupid grin on my face. Jesus Christ I was so awkward. Why couldn't I just be confident enough to tell Toddy that I like him? This has never been a problem before.

It was about an hour later when I got a text from Toddy, drawing my attention away from the stupid shit David was filming for his vlog. One day he's going to die, I thought. I couldn't help but laugh a little. Lord knows if he could, he'd tell someone to get the camera.

I unlocked my phone, my eyes skimming over Toddy's text.

toddy the hottie: hey, meet me at the Starbucks down the road? i have something to ask.

me: yeah ofc, be there soon!

I let a little giggle fall past my lips before mentally smacking myself for acting like a teenager. Just as I went to leave, a hand stopped the door from being opened. I looked behind myself to see my dad with an unreadable expression his face.

"Please tell me you aren't about to go on a date with Toddy." I couldn't help but roll my eyes, a sigh falling from my lips.

"Dad, I know you aren't the biggest fan of Toddy's reputation with girls, but I really like him. I'm 23, not a little girl." His eyes stared into mine for a moment before he pulled me into a hug, pressing a kiss to my head.

"Fine. But if he ends up hurting your feelings I'm making him leave town." I shook my head, laughs leaving both us. I hugged my dad back, before leaving and making my way to Toddy.

"Y/N, hey! I'm glad you came." Toddy guided me over to a table, a vanilla bean waiting for me.

"How did you know what I ordered?" I looked at him with a smile, an almost unnoticeable blush coating his cheeks.

"I, uh, asked Kristen since you guys always hang out." He pulled my chair out for me, a nervous look in his eye that wasn't there earlier.

"Aw, that's sweet, Toddy. Thanks." I let the sugary drink slip past my lips, a satisfied hum leaving me.

"So uh, I actually have something really important to ask." I took notice of how fidgety Toddy had become, and I focused my attention on him.

"Oh! Well, I-I actually have something I need to tell you as well." If I wasn't misinterpreting this whole thing, and dear god did I hope I wasn't, I figured I should just tell him that I liked him and get it off my chest.

"Okay, um, how about we say it at the same time? On t-three?" He was anxiously bouncing his leg up and down, his fingers tapping the table.

"One."

"Two."

"Three."

"I like you." The words fell from my lips, and I thought there was an echo before I realized Toddy said the same thing.

"Wait, really?" The words left us at the same time, and I started laughing, Toddy joining in.

"Yeah, really. I have for a while, actually. I didn't want to say anything though, because of Jason." Toddy reached across the table, his hand resting on top of mine.

"We don't have to worry about my dad. Coincidentally, we talked about this before I left." Toddy's smile was like heaven, but it was even more amazing when it was directed towards me.

"Oh thank god. So does this mean I get to take you out somewhere now?" Toddy's eyes were no longer nervous, they had a more confident gleam in them now.

"Hmm, I suppose. How does Friday at 7 work?" I leaned forward, my arms resting on the table.

"Hey, I was gonna say that! But yeah, 7 works. See you then." Before I had a chance to utter a single word, Toddy pressed a quick kiss to my cheek.

When I finally snapped out of my trance, Toddy was walking out of Starbucks with a grin on his face.

This would be interesting.
