Clarke

I paced the fence, which I had been doing since Murphy and Emori left and Lexa finished explaining the plan that we currently had.

"If you keep pacing, ai hodnes (my love), you will make a hole and that will not help anyone." Lexa said, coming over to me.

I glared at her, "I can't just sit back and do nothing Lexa!  That's our family out there!" I exclaimed, frustrated.  This felt like when we were waiting for the attack on Mount Weather and I kept running over the plan with her.

She gently took my hands, a warm look in her eyes, "Ai get in, ai hodness (I know, my love).  I would rather be out there rescuing Ontari now but we don't know where she is or where they're taking her, Octavia said that there had to be at least ten of them with more probably still hiding, and Roan will probably know more about these natronas (traitors) than we do.  We will rescue her Clarke, I promise.  But rushing in blind is a fool's move.  I doubt they'll kill her.  They know they have a valuable person to me, they'll use that to their advantage." She said softly.

I let out a breath,, shoulders slouching forward.  "We always come back to war." I murmured quietly.

Lexa squeezed my hands, "This is a group of Nia Loyalists who took it one step too far.  I hope we won't have a full scale war." She said softly, but I knew what she was also silently adding.

"But if it does, we'll face it together."

I nodded, squeezing her hands as I nodded, "Alright, let's get some dinner."

Lexa nodded and led the way.  When we got there the family was already seated around the table we'd been claiming and two plates of food were already sat out for us.

We sat down and I stared at the food on my plate, not hungry as I glanced at the painfully empty spot where Ontari had sat only this morning.

Echo had a look similar to Lexa's when I was threatened in her eyes, something dangerous - threatening.

"When do you leave?  We can offer some of our soldiers." Marcus spoke up and I was silently grateful that someone broke the heavy silence, even if it was talk of the inevitable battle - I highly doubt they're just going to hand over Ontari when we get there.

Lexa let out a slight breath and spoke, "We leave in two days at dawn.  I'm not bringing Skaikru into this.  Ontari was taken because of Nia and the fact that she is close to me.  This is a family matter, and as much as I consider you part of the family I won't bring you into battle with Azgeda warriors who would more than love to have my head as a trophy."

I glared ahead at nothing, thinking, "They can have your head over my dead body."

"You aren't worried about how long it will take to mount the rescue party?" Marcus asked worriedly.

Echo let out something that was a mix between a sigh and a growl, "They won't kill her, she's of no value or use to them if she's dead.  Torture maybe, but they won't risk killing her."

Bellamy wrapped his arm around the Azgeda and she leaned into the touch, clearly not wanting to look needy but wanting the silent reassurance.

He looked around, catching everyone's eye, "We will ride in two days.  We will cross into Azgeda and hunt down these traitors.  And when we find them, we will be coming home with Ontari no matter how much of their blood we have to spill to do it." He said, eyes blazing with a fire I hadn't seen in a while.

"To family." Raven agreed, raising in the air.

A small smile tugged on my lips and we raised our glasses to clink them gently together, "To family, and those who'll soon be found." I said softly as everyone else echoed Raven's chant.

Everyone around the table nodded and we finished our meal, again falling into a silence that was neither light nor heavy.
