Hiccup

I turned to look around for a second, my eyes instantly catching those of Astrids, looking into her deep blue pools, but they were no longer just blue, they looked red and sore from crying. Guiltily, I turned away quickly, knowing that I did that to her. She didn't even glance at me as she walked to join Ruffnut. I turned my attention back at Merida. Her eyes were awkwardly still set on me. veryone looked at me expectantly. What was I supposed to do?

"Um... Hi...?" I lifted my hand up awkwardly as if to say hello. Everyone instantly cheered as I was dragged up to the mead hall with all of the other villagers. I looked back to see Meridas eyes still on me, cringing I turned away again, my eyes once again latching onto Astrids. She just stayed stood at the back of the crowd with Ruffnut holding onto her shoulders for comfort or reassurance - I didn't know. It was weird to see Ruff acting that way, I had never seen her like that before. She was so different, so... protective.

Nearing the giant double doors, I walked into the mead hall finding the tables lined up in a row piled high with all sorts of food. Including chicken, Astrids favourite. I shook my head to erase my wayward thoughts, I needed to stop thinking about her, and what better way than to eat till I could eat no more? I noticed that the royal families seats were labeled, mine being right next to Meridas - of course I kind of expected it...

She just kept staring at me, her eyes were wide and daunting. I tried to look away, but her eyes were just too mesmerising. Not wanting to find out why that was, I turned my head finding Astrid. She was sat at another table, a fair distance away from mine. Catching her turn her head away from mine as I turned to look at her. The recent conversation that I had had with the gang buzzed through my mind, especially Ruffnuts insight on Astrid: I know you thought she doesn't like you anymore... Did she actually like me? I sighed.

Merida

I couldn't help but stare at Hiccups well toned body, and his eyes, Gods, he made my heart flutter. But I couldn't help but notice that he seemed awfully fond of that blond. Well he couldn't, could he? We're engaged! I decided to speak up to take his mind off of her. I mean if we were going to be together for the rest of our lives then I guessed we should at least try to get to know each other better, and I thought that now was better than never.

"Hey, um, Hiccup..." I started. Nothing.

"Umhmm..." Was all he responded with.

"H-hiccup?" I said, waving my right hand in front of his face.

"Yeah?" He asked dazily, his eyes not moving a single bit. I decided to pinch him to get his attention.

"Owww!" finally, "What was that for?"

"No reason, trust ma y'all thank me later... so... Hiccup..." I replied.

"Y-y-yes p-princess..." he stuttered. Cute.

"Hey, ya don' have ta call ma da, y'know, call ma Merida, you are ma fiancé after all."

"Oh, y-yeah..."

"So, les talk..."

"Ok..."

Astrid

Look at them, speaking to one another, conversing. Me and Hiccup used to do that, before... It didn't't matter I was way over him. Oh, but I wished I could look into those grass green eyes once more, if only once... Oh no, I saw Hiccup move his head toward me. I moved my head away from his gaze as fast as I could, but it was too late - he had caught me. I blushed furiously, hopefully he didn't see me do that too.

"Hey Astrid, what's up? Are you ill?" Ruffnut asked, concerned, after she had stuffed her face with yet some more chicken. She put her hand to my head.  It was really weird that Ruff was acting that way. She had become my rock when me and Hiccup were no more. She would console me and sooth me. She was my everything simce then.

"No. no. I'm fine Ruff. Really. It's just..." I sighed, trailing off as I attempted not to give anything too obvious away. I was way over him. "Is Hiccup still looking?"

"Yup!" She said popping the 'p' whilst grabbing another chicken wing. "Hey, you still have feelings for him, don't you?" She smirked, picking at the chicken.

"Do not!" I stated firmly.

"Do too!" She fighted back

"Do not!"

"Come on Astrid, give up. I have a twin remember? I can do this all day. Do too!"

"Ok." I confided, rather reluctantly. "Maybe I may have, y'know.. ." I nonchalantly shrugged my shoulders. She giggled, fist pumping the air - dropping the piece of chicken that she was still eating might I add - in triumph.

"I knew it!" She had begun to giggle even more. Totally not Ruff-like.

"I-I can't though, it's complicated, h-hes with somebody else now..."

"Y'know I don't think he even knew about this arranged marriage thingy..."

"What?" Hope glistening inside of me which I quickly stamped down firmly.

"I mean he didn't even know till I yelled at him. He couldn't believe it when I said you had feelings for him... oops?"

"WHAT?" I gasped, blushing crazily. "Y-you told him what?!"

"Oh, um, y'see I didn't exactly, err, tell him he kinda guessed it for himself..."

"Urgh!" I groaned. I looked back towards Hiccup, his gaze had shifted towards Merida. Did he actually love me? I shook my head, no, he had made it very clear he didn't, or did he?
