"Those are pancakes," I replied to his question. "They're very good. Try putting some syrup," I picked up the glass container to show him, "on them. It makes it better, in my opinion."

He nodded, reaching for the pancake. I stabbed a strawberry with my fork and ate that. I watched a Loki grabbed the grabbed the pancake with his hands and moved to take a bite.

"No, Loki. Use your fork. Here," I cut one of the pancakes with my fork, dabbed it in the syrup that I had poured on the plate, and held it out for him. He leaned forward and bit on the pancake, taking it off my fork. He then leaned away from me to chew. I saw his face twist at first at the shocking flavor. He then swallowed, and his face lit up.

"Delicious!" He exclaimed loudly, taking his fork from the table to eat another bite.

"Exactly." I said, taking my fork to grab my own bite of pancake.

"What's this?" Loki asked for the second time, pointing at an omelet, which was closer to me than to him.

"It's an omelet. It's just eggs, tomatoes, spinach, and cheese with some chicken, from what it looks like." I replied.

Loki, taking his fork this time, stabbed the omelet and tore off a bite.

He nodded, his face shining with approval. "This Midgardian food is very good." He mumbled, though he didn't sound very happy. He sounded surprised.

The funniest part of the morning, by far, was when Loki tried the coffee. He stared at the drink, looking extremely uncertain. He then, after a second, picked it up and took a gulp.

He slammed the cup down on the table, gagging. "What sort of rotten...are they trying to poison me?"

I started laughing immediately when he looked up at me, his face twisted in disgust. "You're such a drama queen." I said through laughs.

Coughing once more, Loki said, "Queen? I'm a king."

That got me laughing all over again. He chuckled with me.

Loki and I finished our breakfast after a while, and I couldn't help but think about how much longer our breakfast was than the one I had with Bruce. I told myself that the next chance I got, I would hang out with Bruce. I still felt guilty about yesterday morning.

Surprisingly enough, Loki had finished the entire breakfast, even after I was full. We talked for a bit while he had been eating, though I couldn't help but notice that Loki had mostly let me do the talking. He didn't talk much about himself.

I walked out of the cafe and to my car feeling more full and not quite as hungover as I did when I had first arrived. Loki got into the passenger seat. Though he didn't have a smile on his face, his eyes were brighter and happier than before eating.

I began to drive home. Loki and I talked on the way home, though our conversation topic never strayed to uncomfortable topics like Bruce and Loki's past. I began to see what I hoped to be the true side of Loki. He seemed happy, bright, and so incredibly human. It was the first time since Loki had arrived back on Earth that I began to think that maybe he wasn't planning anything at all. Maybe he had just been playing with us the whole time.

Maybe, just maybe, he wasn't so bad.

I grabbed a glass from the shelf to fill with water from the sink. It was around lunch time, and I had made us both sandwiches. I placed a plate in front of Loki, who was sitting at the kitchen table.

Even if I was at home, today was a work day. I decided that I would stay at home all day, get Loki to trust me.  That was my goal. It didn't work out as well as I thought it would.
