Chapter 8: Don't Deserve to be Happy

Third POV:

In the classroom, once the day's classes were finished and as the sunset was glowing through the windows, Julian was staring at Anastasia sternly and he said to her in a stern voice, "As I said before Miss Rosetta, what you did today in homeroom was dangerous. If your brother wasn't there, that wyvern would've killed you!"

Anastasia then had her fake tears swell up again and said, "But sir, I didn't do anything to it! Johan was the one who provoked that poor animal and it was his fault that it almost attacked me!"

Julian let out a sigh of frustration and said, "If he was trying to provoke it, then why did he go out of his way to help you and stop it from being provoked?"

"Cause it's the way he always is. He's always trying to show off and think he's better than everyone else," Anastasia said as her eyes started to glow indigo.

Julian scrunched his eyes when he noticed what was happening and he said to her before her spell can reach him, "I don't think that's it Miss Rosetta. Johan does what almost every other student must do whenever they're being taught; they listen and they pay attention and that's exactly what your brother does in my classes and every other class. Now as for your punishment for today's fiasco, you'll be cleaning the classroom every evening once classes are done, by yourself. If anyone comes to help you, they too will be punished."

Anastasia put on her act again and said, "But why punish me when Johan..."

Julian slammed his hand against his desk, stood up and said in anger, "I don't want to hear anymore botching from you about your brother! Now you're gonna take this as a lesson or else it'll get a lot harsher in the future! Now get out of my sight!" And Anastasia bowed her head a walked away with her shoulders slumped.

After Anastasia left, Julian plopped back down in his chair, took out a pack of cigarettes and put one in his mouth and lit it. He then leaned back in his chair and looked up at the ceiling when he heard the door open. Julian looked to where the door was and he saw that it was Edward and he said with the cigarette in his mouth, "You were right about her Ed. Something's definitely going on with her and she seems to be targeting Johan."

Edward came towards the desk and Julian offered a cigarette to him, which he gratefully accepted and he placed in it the flame of the match that Julian lit up. Once Edward took a puff and exhaled the smoke, he said, "Did you see the color her eyes were when they lit up Julian?"

Julian nodded and said, "I did and it's just like how you told me. That girl is a witch. The question is, how the hell did they get into the kingdom?"

"For the time being, we'll keep all this hush hush from the public. I'll let Commander Reeves know so he can inform his allies in the military brigade and the police brigade. But we're not gonna tell the silver badges anything," Edward said and Julian scoffed when he mentioned silver badges.

In Levinia, all units are separated by what color badges they have. The red badges mean the King's Knights, the green badges mean that they're part of the kingdom's military, the blue badges mean the kingdom's police brigade who patrol around to keep illegal crime out of Levinia. But the worst unit of all were the ones who where the silver badges and those people are part of a unit known as The Church. What The Church does is they go around accusing innocent people of doing something forbidden and they jail them immediately without much evidence.

The Church has been a controversial unit for centuries and every king and queen who lived through seeing the harm they've done have been trying to get them shut down for years. The last king, Edward's grandfather, was almost close until his death a few years ago when Edward, Elizabeth and Cyril were thirteen. Now their father, King James, is doing what his father left behind and to shut The Church down.
