"Let's go Astrid!" Jacob honked the horn for the billionth time.

"I'm coming, relax!" I shouted out my window as I frantically ran around my room, trying to locate all my textbooks.

"Here, I heated up some muffins for you two to eat on the way." Kathie knocked on the door an handed me a bag.

"Thanks, Kathie..hey listen, about what happened at dinner, I'm sorry for" I sighed, but was interrupted by another honk.

"Better get out there, my son is pretty persistent." She chuckled.

I scooped my book bag up and raced down the stairs and out the door. Jacob began backing out as my door was still wide open.

"Geez Jacob, Calm down!" I yelled, pulling it shut.

"Sorry, I don't wanna be late. I have to see someone." He shrugged, speeding down the road.

"Who?" I raised an eyebrow, biting into a muffin.

"Her names Grace. We had a little, fling over the summer, and I just wanna see where we stand." He revealed.

After turning a 10 minute drive into a 5 minute one, Jacob had parked in the school parking lot.

He pointed across the lot where a tall blonde girl was exiting out of her black BMW.

"That's her..gosh, isn't she beautiful?" He swooned, before rushing out of the car and going over to her.

"Good luck, Jacob." I muttered, before exiting myself.

I began walking towards the main doors, when someone sidled up beside me. I eyed the person, recognizing it to be Jon.

"Hey there Amanda..right?" He asked.

"Leave me alone." I growled, walking faster.

"Oh cmon, I was just kidding! Your names Astrid..I wouldn't forget." He winked.

"Nice line, only if it had worked." I rolled my eyes. "Don't you have someone else to bother?"

"Actually yes, I do. But none of them are as entertaining as you.." He smirked. "I'll be seeing you around, Astrid."

"I doubt that." I snapped just as he walked over to a group of girls.

I had successfully made it to both my locker and my homeroom class without getting lost.
I was so happy I decided to take AP English. I loved reading and writing so I'd assumed this would be my favorite class.

But I was wrong.

When I sat down at an empty table, the person who walked in next happened to be Jon. Boy did he look smug heading over to me.

Just as he approached my table, someone plopped their books down and took the seat. I looked and saw a boy sitting there, looking innocently up at Jon.

"Matthew..I believe that's my seat." Jon tilted his head.

"Sorry man, I got here first." He shrugged. "But there's a seat over by Olivia, who I'm sure you'll enjoy."

He pointed to a table by the window, where a busty brunette occupied one seat.

Jon eyed me before nodding, "Oh, I will."

As he left, Matthew turned to me. "Hey, you must be the new girl. I'm Matt."

"Astrid. Thanks for sitting here." I sighed.

"Hey, I understand how personally insufferable Jon can be. I figured you shouldn't have to deal with that. At least not on your first day." Matt smirked.
